This is assuming that Ernie is here to make the pick this summer. Not saying he will be gone for sure, but if there was ever a reason for Ted to fire him, it is after this years performance combined with not being able obtain KD.

You act like that accurately captures his skill level as a player. He mailed it in this year and his numbers were much better the last two seasons. If you want to argue his attitude is a problem and will hold him back, ok, but he is not a 'bad' player. Please
I'd say who really is probably a mix between the 13'-14' and 14'-15' seasons.. which is still a very average player who doesn't address our defensive and rebounding woes.

Now, if we could just just keep losing and get that 1-9 pick

They're saying future first round pick though which makes me think that's 2017 and beyond. If that's the case, we aren't seeing that pick back.
Wait!!! You mean we have no chance at having a 1st round pick next year, none!?!

I just can't see this team being 1-9 pick bad after this season. At the worst they'll be treadmilling for the duration of Wall's contract.

Morris was awful this year because he was pouting, but over the last 2 seasons, he was okay - better than his numbers suggest because he does play defense. If Morris regains his old form, then he will turn out to be a pretty decent bargain as the salary cap continues to escalate. It's a pretty good thing to have a starter/sixth man type of player being paid just 9% of the salary cap. That said, Morris isn't THAT good. He's not worth a lotto pick.
I'm waiting for confirmation on the pick. Woj said it was a protected future pick. If it was the 2016 pick, I don't see why "future" would be a descriptor.
If we traded the 2016 pick with only top 9 protection, then this deal is a complete travesty and an indictment of Ted's utter incompetence in letting a lame duck GM make moves out of desperation to keep his job. The Wizards will probably finish as the 9th seed in the playoff race, giving them the #12-14 pick. Morris would need to play much better AND significantly improve his attitude to be worth that.
The best case scenario may be for Wall to save this franchise from itself and intentionally break his pinky or something. Without Wall, we'd tank to a top 8 pick and thus retain our pick this offseason.

The team will still lose more games than they win
Hopefully we move up in the lotto

What is he good at? He is an inefficient scorer who doesn't rebound worth a crap.
Even last year he still averaged only 7 rebounds per 36 minutes and had a TS of 52%.

Just to point out: Dragic, Gortat and Morris have all been miserable and were traded away. There's been snippets about how the owner doesn't know what he's doing, and the environment in Phoenix isn't that great. So yeah I'm not excusing the Morris stuff and what he did off the court, but he's a solid player, signed long term, and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Edit: Like I said earlier, at the end of the day, the worse/best case scenario is that we still stink, bench Wall for the rest of the year and ride it out. We get Morris and keep the pick

Right player, right price. Look at what Morris did his last five games. Started to turn things around. The attitude is certainly the biggest concern but I like the gamble. We can also add another player with the DPE.

I'll add that this is a real surprise to me. Morris seems like a big time violator of Ted's "no jerks" policy. Since Ted has been here, they have been real consistent at avoiding bad character types. The only exception was Glen Rice Jr., and they got rid of him pretty quickly once it became apparent that he was a jerk too.

Simmons (yeah, some may not take him seriously) had him ranked 40th in his trade value column last year...
40. Markieff Morris
Now here’s a legitimately underrated basketball player! Love his toughness, love his crunch-time chops, love his stretch 4 game, love the

Morris contract makes this deal beautiful....we now have a serviceable pf...not a small forward; power forward, not a center power forward; a power forward power forward

I may need to walk this back in a while, but right now I just feel like taking a break from the team. 30 years of fandom at this point just feels like a colossal waste of time at best, and at worst, active harm to my life. It just sucks to be a fan of incompetent franchises. There is no hope with them, and that's what we are.

Why? He's a big man with back problems. And he's looking to get paid this offseason, it's about the worse set of circumstances that you can have.
