Charlotte offers Walker and whatever else they want off of our garbage roster.

There's going to be a lot of Jalen Rose hate and vitriol, but this seems more reasonable than at first glance.
The Spurs had Duncan, Parker, and Manu who all bought in at an early stage due to early success, but Kawhi and even Aldridge are a part of a newer generation. They see the writing on the wall and for the last 20 years, it's been free agency and recruitment that have built the championship squads. Sure there are outliers, but that's been the main ingredient. Players give Pop all sorts of praise and credit, and Texas is a no income tax state, yet San Antonio has had trouble drawing in the big free agent fish. That may or may not mean anything, but it wouldn't surprise me if young players just aren't as awestruck and gung ho for the Spurs as reported.
Now Kawhi is signed for a few more years so this is much ado about nothing, but there have been some cracks in the Spurs armor the last few years.
Why do people keep saying this? LaMarcus Aldridge was a FA whale when they landed him, and he picked them over the Lakers to boot. To top it all off, dude just signed a three year extension to stay in San Antonio.
After requesting a trade.
Is that another way of you admitting you're wrong? I'll take it.

This might be true but SA has zero reason to do it. At least for now. Like I said, this off-season will be a lot of fun.Sothron wrote:I put more substance to Rose saying something like this than SAS or something like that. Rose is a long time NBA veteran player with connections still in the league. I'm not saying he's right but I'd not quickly dismiss this as click bait either.

Honestly why should the spurs care what Kawhi does.
They are a 50+ win team without him and will just draft another superstar in the late first round like they always do.

Not to say I agree with him, but it is well-known that Pop and RC Buford co-operate in the decision making. It's not a "he's just the coach" situation.

Nonetheless, I wouldn't be surprised if this was more ploy than anything else... Pop is like the Belichick of the NBA (not cheating or any similar insinuation, I mean as far as being a mastermind).
I mean I wouldn’t mind that, but who would Philly offer up?
As much as I would hate to part with Markelle, I'm thinking it'd probably involve a package centered around him... I know people like to go crazy with conspiracies, concluding the worst, and running away with hot takes... but he was still the top-ranked prospect, and #1 pick for a reason... and still only 19 years old. In an ideal world (for me anyway) we'd be able to keep Markelle, and instead barter with other assets. We have picks still, including our own present pick, and future picks. We have the Kings or the Lakers pick... along with other smaller sweeteners/young players we could throw in. Not sure which package exactly would be the most enticing, and my hypotheticals would have some bias in them. If the outside world still wants to ignorantly dismiss Markelle, well that's on them... speaking in general too btw, not any one person/fan-base in particular, nor does it have anything to do with this discussion directly, just wanted to say.

Could anyone beat Boston putting everything on the table outside of Kyrie / Tatum / Horford / Hayward (so basically Jaylen Brown / Marcus Smart / Marcus Morris / Yabusele / Lakers 1st / Clippers 1st / Grizzlies 1st).
My God. As a Raps fan, I really hope not.
Kyrie/Tatum/Hayward/Kawhi/Horford What an amazing two-way lineup...
...
And yet I'd still pick
Curry/Klay/Durant/Iggy/Dray in a series though...how crazy is that?
Interviewer: Championship #2?

This is meaningless.
He'll let himself go then after next season. The ball's in Leonard's park if he really wants out of SA.

I wonder if Pops is hip enough to pull the nah, fam line if Kawhi officially asks for a trade.

They got Aldridge thru free agency. It's a bigger fish than anybody the Bulls, Lakers, or Knicks have landed in recent years. It's hard to get big fish free agents period. With the $$ disadvantages and now it's even tougher with the new supermax

This is inside insight regarding the actual basketball team, not off the court stuff.
I imagine if I was a Spurs fan I would want to be informed about something like this.

Yeah right dude. The conversation starts with Booker. Or are you going to say he's off the table?

Uhhhmm... okay?
In my first post I said, "this may be much ado about nothing..." I admitted there and after that I may be wrong, the same way this report and Aldridge's trade request may prove you're wrong. No one here is in San Antonio's front office lol... All I'm saying is that you never heard reports of displeasure from San Antonio for years and now you hear rumblings of unhappiness from their two best players in the span of months. I'm also saying that players are taking more of a stand in terms of the direction of their teams in recent years. We see reports of players like Kyrie fretting over treatment from front offices, Dame Lillard having sit downs with his owner, and others. Long term viability is just as important to a player's happiness as past success, otherwise KD would still be OKC.
If you equate that to being right, well... congratulations?

Couldn't agree with you more. It's been so strange how the Spurs biggest free agent landing has been Aldridge. That just blows my mind. You would think with Pop's pedigree there would be more players flocking to him. I really hope they can get James and Leonard on the same team.

The guy is on pace for 19 straight 50 win seasons consistently over-achieving with his roster yet you think the Spurs have a treadmill coming up... SMH
You cant win a title spending 40 millions/years on Gasol and Aldrige. And i'm sure the GM only signed them because Pop asked.
