Brett Brown must be confident he can develop Smith. I hope he is right.

Would have been nice if he was 3-4” taller

He's young. Not impossible for him to keep growing.

Moves like this are what propel a team on the cusp of a championship to an actual ring. You have to take some risks.

Very happy about this trade and taking a chance on a higher ceiling player.

Zaire Smith is nearly 3 years younger than Mikal Bridges. You just can't discount that fact.

And an unprotected 1st on top of that. Genius.

Nice pick and an even better trade.

Bretts gonna convince Kawhi that he's the kawhi-friendly version of Pop.

Brett's gonna convince Spurs that Zhaire is the next Kawhi and they can select Bronny Jr in 2021 with Heat pick

Motion to refer to them as Gm-Unit.

I'll also settle for yelling PICK SQUAD - Wakka style.

I'm proud this team is committed to winning the championship than is just happy making the playoffs like others. And as long as we're committed we would make these kind of long view moves no matter who's the GM

Great trade in terms of pure value. Hopefully Zhaire can become a smaller Kelly Oubre.

Length comparable to combo guards like Donovan Mitchell, Westbrook and Dipo.

If he was 3-4" taller, we wont be able to get him

Really the main issue with his shot...at least his set shot is how much time he needs to be able to get in rhythm. I think he's gonna surprise a bit with the creation(nothing amazing).

The biggest issue is he's a guy going to a talented team who needs development. Either you get minutes or you get good coaching. I'm not sure he's gonna be getting either of these things.

Smith should hopefully see a lot of G-league time. He needs a lot of work.

I like this trade but damn if I don't feel bad for Mikal and his family. You could see how happy him and his mother were with the pick

For what it's worth, this guy used some analytics to predict the best defenders from this draft class and Zhaire is, by a very big margin, predicted to be the best wing defender.

A guy like Zhaire will be, in theory, very valuable in a series against a Boston. Another plus is he's used to having a very low usage rate.

What an amazing deal for you guys. You not only get superior prospect (IMO) - he's just turned 19 while Bridges will be 22 in two months, you get a Miami pick that should be amazing in 2021. Their core is old, Dragic will be well past his best in 2020-21 if he even stays there, they have almost zero good prospects (Adebayo is all right, Richardson and Winslow are decent but they won't carry this team to wins) at this point but at the same time aren't bad enough to get a high pick in 2019 that could maybe elevate them to a higher level.

This should likely be a top 10 pick in 2021 and I won't be surprised if it's top 5.

I think you can actually plug Zhaire into the line up from the start and he will contribute on the defensive end. He will learn offense too, with his athleticism he can be a monster on that end too.
