Re: Chuma Okeke
That injury was horrific. Unfortunately that’s going to take a long road back to recovery if he can even recover at all.

It looked bad, but I hope it was just a tweak or something. It looked like his knee dislocated and snapped back into place.

I think Chuma is the player that Stanley Johnson was supposed to be.

Re: Chuma Okeke
The fact he put some weight on it walking out was promising, but I doubt we will see him again this season unless they make it to the final 4 without him and it proves to be minor.
My guess is it's not terrible, but bad enough he is prob. done at Auburn and declares for the draft.

Yeah, he should shut it down for this season.

Re: Chuma Okeke
SO still no news on MRI results.
I will be taking him off my board if it's a torn ligament since he'll probably have to return to school and prove he is still worth a first round pick. If anything less than that I'm taking him late first instead of mid first and taking my chances.

Re: Chuma Okeke
If it's a acl mcl etc I think he will bet on himself and stay close to those who he is loved by , rather than jump into the league injured and taken mid 2nd and have to negotiate a **** deal. Of course the Jontay scenario does make declaring somewhat justifiable.
If the injury is not significant if he knows what's good for him...he will declare and be able to prove to teams his timeline for recovery is short etc where he still has a shot at the late first.

Man, anybody close to him should tell him to go, he is going to drop if he stays, gets back mid-late season next and maybe look bad, and then he is a Senior a year after (he is also a bit old for a sophomore, or towards old, turns 21 in August) right now, he is going to get drafted early 2nd, get a multi-year deal, and cash in about $2M guaranteed (well before taxes)

nope, he should go! He comes back, doesn't play well bc of sitting so long and he might not ever get drafted.

Do you really think a team is going to draft a player with a terrible injury with poor prognosis anywhere in the 1st? I mean maybe 2nd on a flier but getting drafted in the 2nd isn't any better than taking your chances returning to school because the players drafted in the 2nd are not guaranteed and the contract negotiated would be next to nothing with that prognosis, then if he recovers he'll be underpaid.
I get it, but to me if it's a standard injury with a 1 yr recovery at most before returning to full form, then yes he should declare and hope somebody takes him late first , but if it's real bad, I doubt he gets a first round spot and would better off staying school where he can earn a damn degree and if he recovers eventually then he can get picked in the 2nd negotiate a deal as a healthy prospect

Could see the clips trading up on the 2nd rounders to get him.

Re: Chuma Okeke
Torn ACL is less of a long term issue than multiple tears or fractures that could have happened there, still sad for him Auburn.
Either way he will get drafted late first early 2nd if he declares probably given it's a pretty common injury anymore if the prognosis for full recovery is good. I mean he had a rock solid season and was really one of the most impressive players this season.
If he has set backs early in recovery before the draft I could see him staying in school

Re: Chuma Okeke
He should still come out this year. He doesn't need to prove anything in the NCAA. It's similar to OG Anunoby. Go to the Combine, get measured and interview with teams. Sure it may push him into the 2nd round, but he'll get paid to rehab and make it in the league. He has to bet on himself either way from here.

Getting drafted in the second round gives him no guarantees, and teams are going to downgrade him big-time because they generally want their rookies to actually play. There's an ENORMOUS benefit to being a 1st rounder, and it makes all the sense in the world to wait a year in order to earn back his first round grade - which he likely did have before the injury.

Re: Chuma Okeke
He could be useful to the Spurs with the Raptors pick. If he can get some sort of guarantee, then he should go. No reason not to declare though since he can at least receive feedback. He will be walking fine after two months. His surgery is on Tuesday.
