This should be called the ben simmons award. He's been horribly overrated for like two years straight.

Overrated based on what? On what this board was expecting? Media expectations?
Since none of these things is clarified i will not vote for a league player.

Zion Williamson. Already a "top30 player" according to some folks on ESPN and "a lot better than Devin Booker" who is in the league 4 years(according to the same people again).
The kid might be amazing when he turns pro but for now the whole hyperbole has reached all time high. I haven't seen something like that again.

Like many have said this is between Ben or Lowry.

The league hypes/hyped up Ben like he's the second coming of LeBron when in reality LBJ was 1000x better scorer right out the gate. His embarrassingly bad inability to have an semblance of a jumper greatly inhibits him and especially so come Playoff time where he's damn near a liability.

Then there's one closer to home which is Lowry who I have said (anyone can check my post history) was NOT all-star this OR last year for that matter. He's been getting the nod on popularity which is evident when you see all the stans from our fanbase defend has crappy Playoff play by referencing a handful of Playoff games when in reality there shouldn't be a handful of good games...it should be the opposite where you can only reference a handful of bad ones.

But he's not been the player of yesteryear for a couple of years now. Idgaf what the supposed analytics say, roleplayers like Robert Covington are analytics' darlings too, it doesn't mean he's a star either. Kyle used to be the guy that would step up and carry the team offensively pretty much any time we needed and especially when DeRozan struggled (at least in the regular season that is). We seen a short spurt of that play the first 1/4 of this season where he was a LEGIT all-star (as in seasons past) and then from various injuries/bumps & bruises, he went back to a lesser version/roleplayer for the vast majority of the season. He can't have "spurts" of good games or multiple "slumps" as has been the case the last couple of seasons and be considered an all-star, he should be CONSISTENTLY good and the bad to mediocre games a rarity to earn that title which is really the bottomline.

Pascal Siakam. So sick of hearing about him and he doesn’t seem like anything special.

Edit: Jayson Tatum also. Way too talked about for someone who won’t ever be an all-star if he continues on the trajectory he’s on right now. A lot of talk about Ben Simmons being overrated but I’d take him over both Siakam and Tatum and he’s still proven he can be an impactful player even without a solid jumper.

Right but a lot of players have Stans and you ejust said yourself that Ben's biggest supporters, Philly fans, are realistic with their expectations of Ben. So how can he be perceived as overrated? Who else is rating him highly? Seriously curious about this and why people view him as overrated. Yes he has glaring weakness but no one ever said that he was a top tier superstar in the first place. Definitely not in his second pro year playing.

DD led a weaker cast to the playoffs than Lebron, and they just beat Den. Hard to call him overrated. Who would have thought Sa would be 1-0, Toronto would be 0-1, and Lebron would be on set begging players to join him for Space Jam 2.
