This bubble is an interesting experiment to test the hypothesis: are officials influenced by home crowds to make home-team-favoring calls? Sports bettors who handicap the refs are going to be tested.

I've thought about this too. And my best guess is this will lead to better officiating as they don't have subconscious need to please the crowd. However, I'm still confident refs won't have the backbone to stand up to long time established stars harping on them, such as LBJ and CP3. They know any call against LBJ is going to lead to him freaking out on them, it has to subconsciously affect them. But, that's the same way it was before too.

How? I'm interested!

I'm also incredibly excited to watch the Bucks today. It's so nice to have the NBA back as a distraction to all the real world craziness.

Imo if they are going to do virtual fans, they should do more virtual fans. The faces are too big.

That said im surprised at how effective they are for smoothing over the fact that the "arena" is empty.

Still, i wish they had found a way to lottery out tickets to a very small number of season ticket holders for each team. I would have paid big money for that and i know im not alone. Whatever they would have needed from me. 14 day quarantine, quit my job, divorce my wife...

Im just kidding i love my job.

JFGI,
Each team will play 8 regular season games to determine seeding before going to playoffs.
Playoffs will be four rounds of best-of-seven.
Playoffs begin Aug 17, finals scheduled around Sep 30th. Game 7 of finals could be 10/13.
What happens with the 2020/2021 season?

Draft is scheduled for October 16 so it could be 3 days after Game 7 of the finals.

I got an invite as well. Had to preregister is all.

I'm sure they sent out more than 300 invites, I think a lot of season ticket holders got invites as well.

Will be interesting to see if I can get on or not.

I was trying to come up with possible ways to incentivize playing to have the best records with no home court advantage. The only thing I could think of is rather than doing regular seedings, Let the #1 team pick their opponent out of all the playoff teams in their conference. The #2 team would then pick their opponent out of who is left and so on down the line. This could help overcome a good team matching up poorly against a lesser team, but I don't know if this would be a blessing or a curse for the team who chose an opponent who handed them their ass.

Will foxsports ever get rid of that hint of gray in their broadcast that's been there since the 90's?

Wonder if they were able to do their wrestling thing before coming out.
