Re: Damian Lillard
POR is not going to trade Dame to somewhere he doesn't approve. According to SAS, Dame does not want to play for NYK. SAS is a major
but if he says that DIRECTLY came out of Dame's mouth then I believe this account. NYK fans need to stop the same old pie-in-the-sky bulls!!t that we are getting saved by a superstar.

Revolution starts in the mind...

to be fair he said he hasn't talk to him recently. So NYK were a clown show up until this year...maybe **** changed?

SAS has lied about that kind of thing before though, so I don't really put much stock into what he says players tell him.Huey Freeman wrote:POR is not going to trade Dame to somewhere he doesn't approve. I think Dame is just trying to force Portland to make a move. The tiny, high scoring backcourt experiment didn't work, so they'll probably look to move CJ for a better complementary player(s)... Wonder who that will be... Would love to see Dame with a better supporting cast, a big 2-way wing.

Actually he said Dame doesn't want to go anywhere, but he might have changed his mind but he doesn't know, but before you take SAS for gospel, he declared KD and Kyrie were coming to the knicks..so like all the "experts" they don't know much

I mean the whole league expected KD to come to the Knicks before he tore his Achilles.

Speaking of CJ...why not target him? He's had stretches were he looked scary....
CJ is incredibly talented, but would you want to do some sort of Randle for CJ swap? CJ isn't exactly young either and it would be a similar scenario of the Knicks being a borderline playoff team if CJ is expected to be the guy.
The Wizards would be a more dangerous team than the Knicks, basically.
No. I meant to pair him with Randle...Guess I jumped the gun and assumed we could maybe get him for cheap,,,but that's not realistic

This is the stage of the summer where we dream of all the big superstars coming here somehow. Well we had a decent season this time and Leon Rose may be the best guy to get someone here out of our previous GMs?

Someone said CJ and that might be a good idea too. If I recall correctly, they’ve put him at PG before, with good results, right?

Knicks also have 75 million in cap space, tons of draft picks, and a decent squad..

You pay Randle Rose Mitch your pretty much capped out after two years RJ will be up for extension not to mention all those extra draft picks Knicks will have to sign the flexibility won't remain forever the timeline is short and star players rarely choose Knicks as destination.K-DOT wrote:Not worth it without someone committing to us in free agency beforehand (cause we won't have the cap space afterwards)
Dame+Randle isn't enough to win a chip. Hell, I'd say after what Portland would ask for him, we'd probably be an even worse team than the one he's leaving
Just hold on until the opportune moment. Y'all are too ready to repeat the mistakes of the Melo era. Diving head first into trading for a star without a proper plan to surround him with talent.

It will be better then hoping RJ develops anything more then a corner 3pt shooter.blueNorange wrote:idk but y'all but i love the idea of trading everything for someone that won't make the knicks any better than a 2nd round exit.
is that what y'all want, to play 2 more weeks?

Depends on if Portland prefers a pick heavy package to NYK's young core pieces. We've seen GM's trend heavy towards that style of deal because it buys them more time with ownership...
If the Knicks can keep at least 2 of IQ, Mitch, and RJ out of the deal our roster isn't worse than Portland's IMO especially if you think Randle > CJ which I tend to believe is the case after this season.
Also using a 3rd team to our advantage could be helpful. A rebuilding team may want some picks and be willing to ship a better prospect to Portland for us. Cleveland for example could send Sexton to Portland if we/portland give them enough picks which would lower the prospect capital we have to send out.

Exactly some ppl are looking at this narrow minded championship or bust.snadler wrote:This win a chip or nothing else matters is annoying. only 1 team wins a ring, and the nets who have a big 3 might not even get there this year with the bucks being a tough test, would that mean it's a mistake for them to get harden. If the knicks can get Dame you don't hesitate, if he doesn't want to leave then you move on.

I hear you but to his defense, he didn't say it came directly out of their mouths. He was sourcing friends and inner circles which can be problematic. As a matter of fact, when it was confirmed Kyrie was going to BKLYN, SAS said people in Kyrie's camp were trying to get him to sign with NYK but Kyrie wanted the Nets. So all of those KD & Kyrie to NYK proclamations he was giving were from those guys' inner-circles...which as we know do not actually sign on the dotted line and put on the jerseys.
Revolution starts in the mind...

We have a ton of cap space for at least 2 years even if we sign Mitch and Rose. If we sign Randle to an extension we have even MORE cap space cause his cap hold in 2022 goes from 30 million to 26 million. That means we would have 3 years of at least one max space until we have to resign RJ in 2023
We have a really long timeline all things considered.

Only person on that list needs to get paid this offseason is Rose
Yeah, the flexibility won't remain forever, but for now we have it, so we don't need to force something if we don't have to. We have at least until next offseason before we need to make tough decisions.

Who do you add after you trade for Dame and lose all of your tradeable assets in the process? At least Melo was 26-27 when the Knicks did that to get him in 2011.
If you don't get Kawhi, it's Dame and a bunch of spare parts, so essentially a lost season. Then he's 32, when you have a shot to add Bradley Beal/Lavine. Dame with one of those guys isn't contending. It'll be like Portland except his SG is slightly taller.
It just doesn't make sense unless you know he's coming with someone else (someone better). I think most Knicks fans would trade the 2011-13 Melo Knicks for an opportunity to be in the contender conversation every year by drafting well and high and building a younger core with a real window to win.
