Bouknight had that one 40-point game early in the season that made everyone move him up a ton, but he ended the year under 30% from 3 and was (predictably IMO) handled in the tournament by a Maryland team that had a lot of switchable defenders his size. The larger sample for his career still has him as a just 32% three-point shooter, which to me is low for someone who's not bringing a whole lot of passing or defense to the table. I'd gladly trade down anywhere in the lottery for a team that was looking to get him. I was higher than most people on Jahmi'us Ramsey last year but not top 10 high, and I'm having a hard time finding where Bouknight, who's 10 months older and had a worse freshman season than Ramsey, is supposed to be a better prospect than that.

In the spirit of summer league overreactions, I have to dig up this post of mine from the 2021 draft thread.

OK slow down, Iverson at 6'5 would basically be Jordan.

Suggs looks incredible, hard to find a weakness in that dude's game

Kuminga's size is real, can't stress this enough, a real 6-8 and looks big enough already to handle some 4/5 minutes at some point

Moody old man game is, as always impressive

Cole Anthony is straight up playing his way to the D-League.

2nd year PG looking like ass out there in the summer league. Obviously going to lose all his minutes to Suggs this year.

I gotta admit that Kumingas size & athleticism is impressive, but his shot is so bad. He needs to watch a lot of Giannis film and take good notes.

Bol Bol needs to be extricated from the Nuggets bench. Hope my Grizz push for a trade. He is just too big and talented. Too versatile in the ways you can use him as a stretch 5 offensively.

Neither looking great but Cade looking better in the first half. Green getting blitzed every Pnr though, still needs to learn how to handle that

Sengun’s jump shot has looked rough but everything else has looked great.

Honestly he's looked like the best player on the floor.

When will the NBA properly evaluate European prospects?

The next step is going to be 'well duh he can put up numbers, but he's a slow big who will get played off the court in the playoffs,' which even if it ends up being the case is hilariously overestimating what anyone outside the top 5 or so should be expected to contribute in either the regular season or the playoffs.

Sengun is looking like the best player this year so far.

Led both teams in plus/minus over two games. Might be one of those his team just wins with him type of players.

He is just an incredible basketball player on offense with so many tricks and moves. His vision is so good for a center, and I would say is more advanced than Jokic at the same age.

Plays with incredible discipline and verticality on defense despite his physical limitations. Plus, he even looks faster than advertised.

The predraft assessment of how he will defend in space was simply wrong. He did a good job walling up in this one. He hasn't been iso'd and switched as he will out on the perimeter, but honestly, how many bigs are incredibly effective switching? I'm with you.

The pushback on twitter was, 'He was supposed to dominate summer league. This isn't better than the Turkish League.' Lol. He is 19 years old.

we turks knew what was coming when i opened his thread in this platform last october / november.

he will only get better as he adjusts to a new country, new culture and feels more confident on the floor.

what is even more important is that he has a memo okur / ersan ilyasova type character than cedi osman / furkan korkmaz one.

The latter ones simply suck due to lack of work ethic.

For Alperen, that won’t be the case.

I guess I'm old enough to remember when Glen Rice Jr. won the summer league MVP like 5 years ago.

I think Sengun will definitely be a good player who's going to outplay his draft slot, but fitting around him is going to be a issue if he's going to start or something. a shorter Sabonis is probably a more reasonable comp at this point.

I am impressed at how professional he looks on defense though, gets to spots, and also that he gives up low chance plays sometimes to not get into foul trouble.
