When was this ever the case lol. The one year you could argue that Live made it close was when they introduced the freestyle control in '03 which was a game changer imo.

most underrated player in the league at this point

Did he become the most underrated before or after his fat ass had minute restrictions and couldn't play in back to backs?

Chill on the outlandish takes after a few months of good ball lol. Some players go years of playing like this with minimal accolades.

some players? show me the list of players that started their careers with the production that Zion just had in his first two. i'd bet it's not a long list and it doesn't involve 'some players'.

and im not sure skipping backs to backs has to do with this...you got rookies skipping SL games at this point...odd to single Zion out on that especially considering he had a knee injury his rookie year.

I wasn't big on Zion at all, and was quick to poo-poo those Lebron comparisons. I'm still not the biggest on him and don't like the comparison. But there's no question he's a very unique player. Very underrated.I used to put him in the Grandmama and Anthony Mason category. Now I'm thinking he's more like Barkley, which is nothing to sneeze at, especially when you're altogether nothing like Barkley.

its based on individual categories, then aggregated somehow (probably weighted). the overall rating on its own doesnt mean that much.

yes

Anyone complaining doesn’t play the game.

Yes I know this is going to shock you guys but developers use analytics to determine game play....insane right. Plus the rating can change throughout the year as players play and stats come in...example...LukaGods FT might hurt him in game....and Trae’s 3pt % makes him not as good on the game as you would think.

They have had some crazy stuff in the past for retired players like 99s for guys that were never 99s in their career.

If you don’t game please don’t even look at these as representative of anything. Like Jrue being mid 80s makes perfect sense to gamers...

KD could argue for higher rating because he can shoot so damn well and is so long...in the game he can damn near play center...I would bet his numbers go up.

None of the games that come out yearly ever improve .2k , Madden and COD are the same every year with a few new animations added. The really good games have 2 or 3 years of development.

Agreed but 2K get much burn in my house....need to possibly get another PS5 cause we got our own squads and multiple people trying to get on...we need a schedule

The game is good for what it is...fun fact...Lebron, ad, bronny, and others in the basketball world already online in game complaining and it’s hilarious- twitch -

Overalls don’t mean anything lol. Theres an attribute called intangibles and that controls everything. There can be a 84 ovr with his intangibles at 25. He can turn into a 89-90 overall with intangibles set to 99

Gamer....lol

It's never been the case since I've been playing('05). 2K has it faults but is vastly superior to Live.

It doesn’t mean that...if you play you will get it...Giannis is a monster because he can essentially dunk in traffic at will...and can handle the ball...so doesn’t get picked getting to the rack...thus 96....if anything in game he is cheese

No, it's not. That rating is perfectly fine. It reflects a player who's at a borderline all star level which is exactly what Jrue Holiday is. The tendency for people online to want to base player's ratings on their team's success or tiny one or two game samples sizes when they got hot and completely ignore all of the flaws in their game is what's embarrassing.

He's not a borderline all-star though. And I'm not basing this on what he did in the finals, so don't blindly imply that please. In general 2k ratings don't make any sense. Tier 1 players (Curry, Durant, Giannis) shouldn't have that much separation against tier 2/3 players (Trae, Zion, Jrue, Middleton). There's no way on earth that Durant's ranking should be 8 points higher than Middleton's, as good as Durant is. And role players shouldn't have rankings in the 70's, that's **** ridiculous.

The separation on real life is way bigger than in the game. Trae, Zion arent nowhere near KD level, the separation is huge. Also in 2K series those young stars in 2 or 3 seasons are all 93-99.

Jrue Holiday is on some tiers below, he is a very good starter, almost an All Star, thats it.

My biggest beef about this is that the creators are aware of this. So, they change random things that nobody asked to be changed just for the sake of the game being different.

That's where "Offensive Awareness, D Awareness, IQ, etc., come in. Tweak it until it fits.. which actually makes some sense, no?
If a player (like let's say Rondo) has a rating way too low for how effective he actually plays, the difference probably does lie in IQ and awareness (among other intangibles).

I thought the exact opposite.

How is he too high? 89 ain't nothing to scream home about

It seems about right. Elite inside scoring, poor shooting, decent rebounding, meh defense.

Well Live was around before 2K. And in the very beginning of 2K, Live was still the better game imo.

Idk, maybe it's just me. I used to be a boss on Live and then when 2K took over I couldn't get used to the different controls and became grumpy about the whole thing. This was a million years ago obviously.

Is the overall a sign of a complete game? Do you argue that a guy that was mvp twice and fMVP once in last three years shouldn't be at the top?

I'm saying it's hard to be almost 100 when you can't shoot FT's or threes. He's not got a game past 10-15 feet.

Prime Shaq and Giannis should be at 80-82 range just under Kuzma and Lonzo Ball then just because they can't make FTs and 3s.

Player ratings are cool and all but have they actually changed the game? Or is it just another copy paste likes it’s been since about 2k17?
