There’s a reason why he barely played in the Nets series because he was getting scored on with ease and still seems like that’s an issue. He also struggles to rebound due to height. He can shoot but he isn’t going to put up many points. He’s got fight but idk, I dont really think of PP as an important piece for our bench at the moment.
you're just making shite up because he's a well above average defender who holds his own despite his physical limitations. Now, is he a poser who defends guys coming up the court to impress casuals and make people believe he's a good defender like Schroder? Nope. It's so laughable that Pritchard is supposedly too short yet people are clamoring for guys he's bigger than i.e. FVV and Lowry. too funny. I'm just going to stop. People are getting dumb and it's not worth responding to tbh
Don't agree that Schröder is a poser defender. He is inconsistent, but he can legit defend. As of now, Schröder is the better defender without a doubt. He's also has extra 6 years of experience, is bigger and longer.
I do agree Payton can get to a FVV level. He's pretty skilled, quick and smart. At his size though, it takes some years for the game to slow down and come to him. Payton's problem is he went from 20 minutes a game to 10 minutes after what you could say was a successful rookie year for his draft position and circumstances.
He needs to play at the 1 with Smart/Richardson at the 2 strictly, never with Schröder. Also Schröder and Smart may have some good games once in a while, but they don't fit on offense for the long term.
Give PP more chances to run the pnr, he has range to make defenses pay in PNR that Smart/Schroder cant do. Also I'm sure Tatum would prefer to kick it to PP for the top of the key 3 much more rather than one of the Smörters.
