This is probably going to hurt Michigans recruiting. I wouldn't want my kids anywhere near a coach who acts like that.

There’s nothing more pathetic than a grown man overreacting to an unwritten rule.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen that from a Head Coach. Especially considering how much time he had to remove himself from the situation. I’d be surprised if he’s not fired.

Howard should be suspended 5 -10 games . Inexcusable, the other coach 1-3 games.

Same Juwan Howard who ended Derek Anderson’s season in the 2001 Playoffs with a dirty foul. Some people never change.

He’s 100% getting canned. He’s lucky he didn’t get into it with Tommy Lloyd. Tommy would have handled this dude easily

Howard was pissed but still tried to get out of there. The Wisconsin coach started it all by grabbing him cause he didn't want to shake hands. Of course that will be swept under the rug..smh

I agree with this. Why did the Wisconsin coach grab him. If he doesn't want to shake hands then let go.

Someone touched him? Better start swinging and potentially start a brawl.

Next espn column: Should players and coaches wear mittens during the game? Violence has gone too far.

Maybe I’ve been in Philly too long but I can’t see getting too worked up over this. He looks like an idiot and should get a timeout for embarrassing himself (and to give some consequences for physical escalation) but it just looks like a shouting match. See this type thing everyday, nothing that could’ve actually hurt anyone and it was over in seconds.

Not trying to be provocative but lotta good leaders are people who aren’t saintly and struggle with control sometimes. Makes them more releatable to young guys who are also a little raw emotionally or just generally hot tempered, shows that they understand it’s hard to keep cool and that they’re all trying to do that for the team and for their own personal growth etc. (Then again I work with people in prison and freshly out so maybe got a skewed perspective on leadership.)

As a fan of the Wolverines, I hope the school fires him and moves on from this quickly. The team has struggled this year and this gives the school the perfect excuse to get rid of him now

This. By no means do I support what Howard did nor do I even endorse the idea of him being pissed over something as innocuous as a freaking timeout. However, Howard was ready to go about his way and Gard stepped into his path. It doesn’t justify Howard’s actions after the fact. But the narrative here is that Howard “caused” this and I call BS. Gard and his staff share some responsibility as well.

Howard was wrong for the swing but that Wisconsin coach has to keep his hands to himself. He blocked his path and everything. He was ready and itching to start it up himself

irrespective of who 'started' it, that was a poor decision and he should lose his job over it.
