Closer comparison might be Embiid vs. Ewing.

Give me the Magic Shaq before he got fat in LA. That dude was a freak almost on the level of Wilt. He is on another tier than Embiid.

The results here are going to be lopsided because Shaq was a beast. In an actual game, I can see it being closer than the results will indicate though. Embiid is more skilled, better shooter, smarter and might just be big enough to help keep Shaq at bay in the paint. He's also got the flop mastery to get Shaq in foul trouble... and you can't hack-a-Shaq him since he converts his free throws.

Then there's also the Kobe factor. Kobe helped Shaq win the titles that had previously eluded him. Having these titles will be counted in his favor, since Embiid doesn't have any yet. But does Embiid + Kobe win as many titles as Shaq + Kobe? I think they might win more than 3 titles TBH, if Embiid doesn't become as lazy as Shaq after winning three.

Embiid vs Yao would’ve been fun. That’s more even.

No he isn't. Shaq probably deserved more than the one he got but it's disrespectful to Shaq comparing him to embiid as good as embiid is, Shaq was on another level.

I agree Shaq deserved more than 1 mvp.
Embiid mvp regular season this year is greater than Shaqs peak regular season. Highest ppg average in fewest mpg most +40 10 games since the merger. The original premise is comparison based on their peak not their career resume. Shaq had the great fortune of playing alongside great 2 guards penny kobe wade his whole career. Embiid had Ben freaking simmons and the shell of James Harden.

Completely different playstyles and obviously Shaq has the much better resume. Still, without prime Kobe, Penny and Wade Shaq's playoff runs werent that remarkable despite the good individual numbers.

Embiid is probably more comparable to 2004 and 2005 Shaq. Otherwise this thread is a complete non-starter.
Aaron Gordon, Devin Booker, Tyrese Halliburton, Trae Young, Anthony Edwards and Luka Doncic all made the Conference Finals.

Where’s Joel Embiid?

C'mon now. Come playoff time there is zero comparison between Shaq and Embiid. Shaq was casually dropping like 35/18 in the finals.

This doesn't speak how "low" I think of shaq it says more how low some here think of Embiid. I've watched Shaqs prime years in LA he wasn't worlds better than Embiid. Embiid is an all time great himself as much it pains some here to admit.

Embiid would hold his own for about a quarter before Shaq broke him. Physically and mentally

Embiid’s awesome and definitely could’ve hung in any era. But Shaq bent the whole league, they changed the rules because of him. He could’ve averaged 40/20 if he wanted to.

And when he went to the finals with Orlando? And when he also won a ring in Miami? Shaq always was on winning teams. Terrible post.
