They can't if they have Simmons on the roster. So they would have to trade away Simmons first in a separate deal or trade him in the same deal. That would get around that rule.

No doubt they would. The question, however, is that would you rather have Simmons or be able to take on Bam or Booker in a deal. I don't think the Nets are married to Simmons. All things being equal, I think they would feel very good about flipping Simmons for picks AND acquiring BAM or Booker (but again, I don't see KD accepting a deal to PHX without Booker and CP3 there).

Mitchell is most likely going to be traded.

Jazz didn’t hire Johnnie Bryant as a head coach (finalist and close to Mitchell), didn’t resign Paschall (Mitchell’s childhood friend since their NY playground days), and traded Royce O’Neal (Mitchell’s best friend on the team) away, none of these suggests Jazz is going to keep Mitchell.

This is good though, building a team with an undersized shooting guard with tunnel vision is probably not the way to go. Hope Ainge goes the BOS TOR route and drafts athletic long wings. This current Jazz team is so untalented and unathletic, there is literally no good young players on the team. I’m impressed with Danny.

I mean the Jazz have collected a lot of picks but within the next few seasons at least they're all going to be late first rounders. If they want to rebuild they're going to have to trade Mitchell as well.

Without trading Mitchell they would have to get incredibly lucky in the draft to avoid a treadmill-like scenario where they're not bad enough to get a star level talent in the draft but not good enough to really compete.

Mitchell and Ayton is not good enough to make the playoffs in the west. They also lost Ingles, very important piece, and Conley is another year closer to falling off a cliff.

Ainge doesn't care what Mitchell wants or doesn't want. If Ainge finds a deal for Mitchell that's advantageous, he'll trade him.

Mitchell is getting moved.. Jazz hired a young head coach with no experience..and have traded or released numerous vets.. this usually happens on rebuilding rosters

utah jazz must start rebuilding right now. they will have 3 first rounders next year, which is a perfect start. and with only san antonio, houston and okc being bad teams in the west, they can very well get a top 5 pick next year.

I think Ainge will look to trade Mitchell to a team that thinks they’re good, but have historically been pretty bad.

My guess would be that the Washington Wizards really feel the heat to get the last playoff spot over the Hawks and so would probably want to compete with their recent acquisition by adding Mitchell next to Beal.

It will only cost all unprotected picks and pick swaps through 2028. What could go wrong!?
