Problem is the salaries.

I believe Kyrie will ether stay Nets this upcoming season or will be packaged in the same deal as Kevin Durant for teams that's willing to take both and have the assets/salary cap to do so. I don't believe those Kyrie Irving to LA rumors hold any water. Yes,the Nets would more than likely get a unprotected 2027 pick out of it and maybe even a pick swap as well. However Russell Westbrook is a very negative asset and not worth a draft pick that's like 5-7 years in the future. Plus portions of the media are openly hoping that some team is stupid enough to give Lakers something meaningful in exchange for Ruseell Westbrook,so they are not the most credible sources in the world.

The NBA is hilarious.

Westbrook’s contract is an asset as it’s an expiring, especially for a team looking to regroup after their stars asked to be traded.

Yeah, not a chance in hell that is going to happen, unless they somehow pull 4 unprotected 1st round picks out of nowhere(which isn't going to happen). The Nets would replace two good offensive players(including 1 all star caliber) for Russell Westbrook, whos a huge negative on defense and offense.

Kyrie's unpredictability frightens teams. It seems LeBron is basically the only guy in the league that is still willing to give Kyrie the benefit of the doubt.

Nobody has an issue with Kyrie's game. His game is universally praised even while accepting that he's a bad defender.

With Westbrook, the criticism of him is entirely about his game.

Kyrie Irving should not have more perceived value than Westbrook at this point to anyone other than the lakers.

Disgruntled, proven he’s unreliable, willing to sit out, with KD also demanding out? hes just a sunk cost with zero value and the nets are lucky that there’s a team out there that would even think about giving value for him. Who else would? Even if you keep him he’s not contributing to anything to the nets at this point.

The lakers would be doing the nets a favor as much as the nets are going the lakers a favor, don’t get that twisted.

Two things.

1. Russ is just an expiring contract, no reason to even think about his on court play. He’s more likely to get get cut.

2. Kyrie Irving having an all star caliber season for the nets is fantasy. That’s not where things stand. He’s looking to get out and proven he’s willing to not play. Value starts with the understanding he’s unlikely to contribute in a meaningful way to the nets this year before walking away for nothing.

The nets could go from harden-durant-Irving to Simmons and Westbrook in the span of 6 months. Has to be the biggest downgrade in the history of the league

Houston was willing to as long as the Lakers attach picks to WB. Lakers wasn’t willing to do that for Wall but Wall ain’t Kyrie.

You don’t even have to be a good GM to run the Lakers lmao they get whoever they want. Congrats to them, especially if it works out.
