Re: 2023 NFL Draft Discussion
The college QBs that are surrounded by numerous NFL caliber playmakers is a red flag of mine. Look at Young's drop-off after Bama lost some WRs. Hard pass

Re: 2023 NFL Draft Discussion
Modern QBs need to be able to run successfully as a third level skill too. For Allen and Mahomes and others, their primary skill are reading the field and great passing skills, but both those guys can be electric as sometime runners. I don't see QB requirements being overtaken by run first-everything else second, ala old-time wishbone offense; but they do need to be able to keep defenses honest with the threat of breaking out. As spectacular as Fields running was yesterday, I think that's not a winning recipe long term.

Re: 2023 NFL Draft Discussion
Young is small but he can move around the pocket and make any throw despite his size. Guys like Kyler are more athletic and can dance around or go for long runs, but don't have the accuracy on throws. Young is more like Drew Brees if anything. But I definitely get that people won't be able to get over his size. I have my issues with it as well, but more in terms of staying healthy.
CJ Stroud needs to look to the sidelines on how to read a defense or what audibles to call, Levis has a bazooka arm that gute will blush over but gute always gets crushes on those types (Love, Lock).
But it's all a moot point if Gute decides to take the 6th or 7th best defender on the Georgia Bulldogs lol.

Definitely out on any O$U qb. I think Stroud will be alright.

Yea, he probably will. I just used some mock draft generator with the current order.

The Packers now pick 8th, up from 13th. They could easily be picking top five by the end of the year. I am excite.

I've pumped the brakes on my being a draftnik, who are you hoping for? Seems like a 3 QB race?

I don't love any of the three, but I had to pick one now I'd go 1 - Stroud, 2 - Levis, 3 - Young.
Mostly I'm hoping for either Will Anderson or Jalen Carter. I think those are the two premier prospects in this class and then there's a drop off. That said, Porter Jr. has played so well and Kelee Ringo is the kind of physical cornerback you rarely see. But I get not wanting to go to that well again.
If they want to go offense and they end up wth a top five pick, trading down and taking Mayer or Robinson wouldn't be the worst idea ever.

Re: 2023 NFL Draft Discussion
Couple mocks this week with the Packers at #10.
PFF has them going with Bryan Bresee. Wouldn't hate this one if his medicals turn out. One of the best defensive players in HS history and consensus #1 overall recruit to Clemson. Had a torn ACL and missed some time this season too.
Doug Farrar has them going with Quentin Johnston, his WR2. Another one I wouldn't hate. He's got franchise WR traits. Slow start to the season for some reason before going off against Kansas.

Jordan Addison is going to be a star WR in the league and I would love for us to draft him.

I've always wondered how a name impacts a player growing up. Obviously talent is 99.5% of it, but i wonder if a cool name gives you the .1% boost in confidence or coaches subconsciously having a better opinion of you which gives more reps or coaching.

I'm starting to daydream about Will Anderson in a Packers uniform. Talk about adding a game wrecker. Jalen Carter and Jordan Addison would be nice as well.

Up to the 12th pick - all that matters at this point. Lose out.

Too bad that pointless Cowboys comeback occurred. Could be sitting in 3rd.

They would be 7th today if they lost verses Dallas, but yes, much better than current situation.

They'd be 3-8 and in the 3rd position.

You are right - was thinking 3-7 for some reason.

Re: 2023 NFL Draft Discussion
I knew we’d regret that Dallas comeback. Our schedule is so soft we will get at least a couple more wins and end up around the middle of the pack unfortunately.

I know Quentin is highly ranked in this draft, but I see a lot of Eq St Brown in the guy.
