Sixers v. Bucks played a national TV game on Saturday, February 2, 2002. This was our revenge game for the ECF. All the celebs were there (including me). We had the Snapper Jones, Bill Walton, etc.

https://www.espn.co.uk/nba/recap/_/gameId/220202015

After the Bucks loss, George Karl said there needed to be changes made to the team, or else he'd quit.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Philadelphia 76ers resorted to the tactics that were successful against the Milwaukee Bucks in last year's playoffs. They achieved the same results.

Allen Iverson scored 25 points, and Derrick Coleman added 19 as the 76ers rallied late to defeat the Bucks 86-81 Saturday in a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference finals.

"As the game transpired, it slowly moved into their kind of game," Bucks coach George Karl said. "By the fourth quarter, it was totally theirs. They're a great defensive team that holds and grabs, bumps and grinds. Our offense was stubborn and selfish. It
was a hell of a game. It had playoff mentality to it."

In the past, such negative comments from Karl about his team were directed at the so-called "Big Three" of Ray Allen, Glenn Robinson and Sam Cassell.

"I'm tired of talking about it. We've been talking about the same thing for 3½ years," Karl said. "We'll keep showing them film, we'll keep showing them opportunities. But if they were to continue to refuse to change, there's probably going to have to be a change.

"That means trading one of them or firing me. I think it's come to that, to be honest with you."

No Load Management back in those days:

Iverson, listed as probable before the game with flu-like symptoms, played 47 minutes, but made just 9 of 30 shots.

The trade deadline came three weeks later. The Bucks made no deals. Since the team didn't back up Karl with a trade, at that point they went into the super spiral and ended up missing the playoffs. Was an unbelievable collapse. This day was where it all started.

Looking back on that as an older man now, WTF is wrong with Karl? Who says that in public like that?

That **** is dark. Wtf.

Let's keep good vibes going.

That whole thing with my young adult self loving our big 3, Ray Allen and Co. was a dream, it was like your first love first gf.... Filled with hopes and dreams and feelings you never had before and then brutally crushed when it all fell apart and she left you, scarring you for decades.

Thank Giannis, he changed everything. Let's keep those dark times behind us.

Both Scott Foster and Tyler Ford will be looking to get plenty of screen time tonight.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Brook better not breathe too hard on Embiid or else he'll foul out.

Losing this game would wreck a lot of good vibes finally coming our way. We should win. Sucks Wes is still out, we could have used him on Harden today.

We're going to lose some games, if this is one of them so be it. I don't think it will be though.

Nah, the one we drop will be some stupid loss to like Washington or something. Or even one of the West Coast games next week.

Sixers fan here you don’t have to worry about Philly they are a train wreck now. A lot fans on the internet, and talk radio want Embiid traded. I believe they have a higher winning percentage when he does not play this year. He pouts, takes way too many plays off on defense, and many times will just stand there and watch guys get rebounds not even trying! Fans are getting fed up with him, and the media is starting to see it too. You can tell by watching the games they have a lot more fun when Embiid is not playing. Look for them to limp into the playoffs getting smoked in the first round by Cleveland, or NY. Embiid puts up big numbers but pouts and is a front runner. When things get tight he chokes 90% of the times and is gassed by the 4th. I wish he had half the heart and work ethic The Greak Freak has. IMO he’s the best player in the league by far when you count both ends of the court.

I don't watch 76ers that carefully, but history shows embiid doesn't have a motor every game. When he's on he can take over and dominate but it's inconsistent. Seems some nights he's not interested.

Having a #2 like harden doesn't help.

Still scary talent that can be a problem for any opposing team but you just never know with them.

I didn't realize there's backlash happening beyond the few minority complaining fans.

Blacklash starting to grow specially when the fans see how well Sixers play when he does not play. Lose to Miami at home, next game versus Miami Joel is out, players look happy, ball is popping, we blow Miami out of the water. Embiid comes back versus Dallas - D is not even trying, Joel playing half speed and teammates sense it. He’s not a winner he’s very immature and a front runner. I’d trade him him this summer we’d be better.

I really wish such an awesome Bucks game didn't happen to be in the middle of one of the best UFC cards in ages.

I'm not doubting what you're saying, I just think it may be a bit overblown. The fitness issue and motor, yea, it's been a recurring theme with Embiid. But trading a Top 5 player in their prime is a bit hasty, no? They'd fire Rivers before doing that anyway.

Embiid may take it easy in the regular season, but even so, he's playing at a pretty elite level.

And if that's when he's not interested, then I assume he will be interested in the playoffs. The Sixers are a flawed team in terms of personnel, but Embiid isn't the problem. You can start with former Buck Tobias Harris.

You need a fairly balanced roster to win the whole thing and the Sixers are Embiid, Harden and Maxey and not much more.

It’s such a sick card lol. Even the prelims have compelling matchups, and theres even an early prelim fight I’m interested in.

The Bucks game *should* wrap up before the main and co main fights.

:x The CP Telethon supersedes the Bucks game on ABC for me
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.
