POR seems very inclined to trade #3/Simons for a all star SF. Brown is by all accounts coveted in that role. We all go back and forth on how good he is or isn't on here, but this deal seems to be something they'd jump at.
TOR is at a crossroads. OG and Siakam are expiring. FVV, Poeltl and potentially Gary Trent Jr. are FAs this year. There are some questions of how Scottie Barnes fits with that group (particularly Siakam), and how expensive it would be to keep together. I find it hard to believe they would pass on #3/Simons for Siakam. It just seems like something they couldn't pass up.
POR could keep Siakam but Brown fits the roster better with Jerami Grant projected to re-sign. A 3 team deal is right there for the taking if we want it, IMO
POR gives: #3, Simons
POR gets: Brown
TOR gives: Siakam
TOR gets: #3, Simons
BOS gives: Brown
BOS gets: Siakam
I actually think TOR owes POR #13 because I have Brown=Siakam=#3 and Simons=#13. It might not be a price they want to pay. Who knows, we might even be able to get #13 out of it for ourselves because I think the other sides would be strongly inclined to do the deal still. Maybe we can expand it to keep Simons for ourselves with someone like Brogdon going out. There are possible add-ons/adjustments. But the bare bones of us sending out Brown for Siakam seems right there for the taking if we want it, IMO.
Smart / Brogdon / Pritchard
White
Tatum / Hauser
Siakam / Grant if re-signed / Gallo / Champagnie
Horford / RWilliams / Kornet
I'm sticking with Horford over Rob in the starting lineup for spacing but could easily switch. Feels like a few potential lineup tweaks you could make after...
With the added playmaking of Siakam over Brown, I think it might make sense to swap one of Smart or White out for more of an off ball shooter, though that's not an issue if White proves this past year is a consistent thing to expect.
If the team wanted to commit to bigger lineups, you could look to add another rotation center into the mix and use Horford more at PF than C. Maybe Rob at C for 24 minutes, the new guy for 15. Horford takes the rest of the minutes there and backs up Siakam at the 4. Means Tatum is a SF full time basically. Come playoff time maybe you cut that new guy out of the rotation. Means to get that guy would be trading the salary of Gallo/Pritchard/Kornet and/or a potential Grant S&T (since he's forced out in this scenario).
I truly believe that #3 on its own is enough for Siakam and that Simons should come to boston. If Simons goest to Toronto then boston needs more asset (perhaps #13 covers the gap)
Portland-Brown
Toronto-#3, Simons
Boston-Siakam, #13
Draft Whitehead at 13 and nab UFA Terrance Davis (poised for a breakout, imo)who should come in for less than the MLE imo.
If not Davis other notable UFAs that can play SG
Josh Richardson
Caris Levert
Lonnie Wlker 4
Milton
Troy Brown Jr
Javonte Green
Dillon Brooks
Oubre Jr
Ross
Move Pritchard, Gallo and Muscala, imo, for a little salary savings to get our FAs or just trade for that wing player.
Smart/Brogdon/Davidson
White/Davis/Begarin
Tatum/Free Agent/Hauser
Siakam/Grant/Kabengele
Timelord/Horford/Kornet
I think it's pretty clean in terms of trade value... Brown = Siakam = #3. And then Simons = #13. I just don't see why BOS would be entitled to more value than Siakam for Brown. And on the POR side, feels like if #3 = Brown then they should get paid for Simons.
You're probably right though that push comes to shove that POR would be willing to do #3/Simons for just Brown. So maybe BOS can squeeze out some extra value. But seems fair enough to me without any extra.
Here is the reasoning.
Brown is more valuable that Siakam. He is viewed that way around the league, and ESPECIALLY to the Trailblazers at this point in time. Brown is a guy mentioned by name from Lillard as a guy he would like to play with. This is them really pumping up their roster with, honestly, an IDEAL fit.
I know brown, extension, etc....but Siakam is also in that same boat...but is older and showed a regression a bit this past season as well where as Brown reached his highest levels yet.
Siakam and #13 + Simons and #3, imo. (Siakam older, expiring)
Brown is worth #3 and Simons..no pick
So, imo, pick needs to come to Boston
