We would absolutely get worse short term by trading DeRozan and Caruso. Atlanta is not a model to follow.

Coby and Ayo are MVPs. But not just this game, this whole turnaround. And it’s not for the points scored (well, for Coby it is a big part cause that’s been amazing!).

It’s how quick they make decisions on offense and how often they look to cut and drive. They are playing exceptionally decisive even when they aren’t scoring. The drives open things up so much, and then they make quick passes. And it’s infectious. They really get the offense in motion and passing the ball around in a way I’ve legit never seen in the half court (Lonzo Bulls moved it a lot but that was more result of full court transition game … not as much their half court sets).

I’m wildly impressed by Coby. And with Ayo, it’s a steal of a depth piece.

I do think Ayo starting is much less appetizing. I think he plays much better coming off bench as a change of pace, put his head down and drive guy. Starting, I think he tries to figure out he he can be more balanced and fit in, and it just doesn’t work, he ends up disappearing. To me, it’s like in football when you have a 2nd RB that is a spectacular change of pace RB with speed, but then giving lead back duties has a massive drop off on efficiency.

yea, horse be out the barn door on that one.

Cant we wait until the off season though? Stacy King made a comment re that matter. We can’t just trade hin away for trash. At least with DDR and AC.. expiring and injury prone..

We won’t trade him for trash. We have almost two months before the trade deadline.

I believe Ayo can play this good even as a starter. He just started last 2 games and adjustments need to be considered. As with boxing, style makes fight. Ayo can run down easily guarded by weaker defenders tonight. Still, he made great and high IQ plays.. im so happy for these young guns.. Coby, Ayo & Pat!! The new big 3!!

Bulls continue to surprise and are playing some good basketball. At this point I don’t think anyone can deny that this team is for real. Good for them for going from one of the worst teams in the league to turning it around to actually winning games.

We got to give credit to shooting coach Pete, the guy the Bulls hired to improve shooting. Both Ayo and Coby have praised him and results are starting to show now as well.AK sounded crazy when he said his plan is to get a new shooting coach and not make many changes but maybe he was right ? For Coby especially there’s a big difference.

On tonight’s game Coby had a super hot 3pt shooting 1st quarter then in the second half he did damage by driving it to either score or make the right pass. It’s crazy that we could have ourselves a star level player If he continues like this. Never thought I would say that about Coby lol.

Vuc did his job 24 pts, Demar 23 pts, and Ayo dropped 24 and put that 0 stat line behind him from earlier this week.

Love Caruso he’s such an important player for this team and he played great for like 5 minutes then once again got hurt. This is getting annoying he’s constantly getting injured all time for as long as he’s been a Bull for 3 seasons.

I think the real change on how we feel, is how we are playing and who is leading the charge. Win or lose.

Before this stretch, it looked like a team that was going to challenge Spurs and Pistons for the longest losing streak. But when Zach and Demar went out and we played the right way, it infused hope and good vibes again. A team we can actually root for.

I’ve been saying for awhile that this team had the talent but the fit was poor and everyone’s numbers suffered. Without Zach we’ve gone from 5-14 to 5-2 with one of those losses in OT in Milwaukee. Fit matters.

You can’t have two perimeter guys in Zach and DeMar without a pure point guard since both guys have a USG% over 25%. Coby as a scoring presence at the 1 has helped spread the floor. This has allowed him to play off of Vucevic and DeRozan. Without Coby elevating his game this run would not have been possible. Also, Vucevic has reverted to solid Vucevic again since the fit works now. He was 24-12 with 7 assists tonight. Doesn’t look overpaid when he can do that and he’s been great during this stretch.

With Zach likely being dealt it’s going to be interesting to see if they can get some quality bench depth and picks or if they could upgrade the 4. This team could be a tough playoff out if they can stay healthy and get a bit more production at power forward.

I don't mind Vuc staying, and it's not like we can do anything about him at this point. His contract is also not toxic. We do need to sign another capable big though, I don't think we should extend Drummond. I'd rather look for younger big in FA next year, like Claxton, Hartelstein, or Goga Bitadze.

I think we're at the point we need to start pushing for more responsibilities for our young core in Coby, Pat, and Ayo, with the help of veterans like Vuc, Craig, and Carter. We need to trade DeMar and AC, but we still need to get the right players to fit in with the current core. It has to be guys that are either veteran guys who can help take some pressure off the young core, young guys with potential on rookie contract, expiring contract, or picks.

I don't want the D'angelo Russell type. I don't necessarily think guys like him are good win now option as well.

I feel like people heavily forget that Ayo was a hot commodity coming out of High School, intended to be a 1-and-done at Illini and an easy lotto pick, decided to stay in school because he wanted to win the Big-10 and possibly a chance at the National Championship. He ended up staying a season or so too long and that killed his stock and made him fall to the 2nd round. At Illinois and at Morgan Park he was a play making scorer (similar to Coby/Zach) with some defensive skills. The kid is much better than many think! He could end up being the Kirk Hinrich figure this team needs long term, with Coby becoming the Ben Gordon, if Pat can become Luol Deng-esque then this team is headed in the right direction with those three.

Please move Dalen along with Zach. Nothing against him as a person but man, I can’t stand watching him play.
Why so serious?

it still baffles me that this is all happening after Zach stop playing. Because now I can't imaging re-inserting Zach into the lineup. I somehow can see the PTSD pictures of Zach's turning the ball over throwing bad shots, and then it becomes DeMar and Zach iso dynamics all over again.

Very different vibe with the team lately. Been fun to watch. Hard to not be thrilled with Coby's development. Story of the season so far.

Not following their model but at least get in the top 3-5 seed range til you get a star level player to put you over the top

That was the most fun I've had watching this team in years. This Coby improvement is insane. Not just the hot 3 point shooting but some of those drives to close the Heat out in the 4th.... holy cow he's gotten good and made thismore interesting. Much much more intelligent play from him too, last 2 years we crack under that zone every time and he handled it fantastically.

I hate Stacy but Vooch sure did look pretty damn good when we fed him lol. I can't wait for Demar/Zach to be off this team. Thank you for everything but Vooch/all the young guys giving a crap is infinitely more interesting and honestly a better team. Lets just do the Charlotte deal and flip Lavine for Hayward and a protected 1st down the line. Keep D-LO off this team in any Lavine trade i really wana see what we have in these guards when we fully hand them the keys to the team.

Also i'm nowhere near ready to give up on Terry. Yes he's stunk so far but i've seen a small amount of improvement this year and his skillset is still super intriuging to me. Lets watch him develop for a year or two in a non toxic enviroment with this new shooting coach/maybe better fitting pieces.

I'm just very confused how people can watch the team play 10x better without Zach and still be like "we should sub out X for Zach and ..." No! Zach wasn't all to blame but he was a major part of the problem

Return to Chicago Bulls
