Though Fizdale never scouted any college games this season, the new coach pushed hard for Knox after his 3-on-3 workout nearly two weeks ago, when Knox got the better of Michigan State’s Miles Bridges. Knicks president Steve Mills reiterated Knox’s willingness to do a 3-on-3 group workout showed his confidence. (Mikal Bridges agreed only to a solo workout).

Fiz pushed for Knox after 0 scouting

It still blows my mind that they based it off of one workout.

I remember they were pushing this image of an aligned organization from the front office to the coaches, in the aftermath of Phil Jackson's toxic reign. The problem was that they were all incompetent, and them aligning on any decision somehow amplified their incompetence.

It was a truly awful time to be a Knicks fan.

To be fair, Perry was competent to good at some aspects of the job. Not scouting though.

I think you're being generous but he was at least a professional, compared to the Steve Mills and Phil Jacksons of the world.

The Knox pick doesn't make me as mad as the Obi pick b/c honestly Knox was arguably the highest ranked prospect when we got to our pick. I didn't like him because of the "low motor" comments but I wasn't furious either b/c I've been wrong about "low motor" assessments in the past. I think most Knick fans would've taken Bridges or SGA so it definitely is a case where the fans would've outdrafted the front office but it wasn't so obvious.

In the Obi draft on the other hand, Tyrese Halliburton had fallen to us and is who any fan would've taken. He was supposed to be a top 4 pick. I don't like the dude now but he is obviously a better player. Also, Deni Avdija was ranked higher by most draft rankings and I would've preferred him as well.

Didn't Renaldo Balkman have the tendency to look like Lebron in exhibition? Watching these Summer League games is like viewing a game of pick up ball.

I thought Topin was projected to be gone by the time the Knicks picked. They were surprised he was still there.

I don't follow the draft as close as some do here, but that's what I remember.

Mikal bridges

SGA

All selected after. What was the logic ??

He looked a lot better than SGA coming out of college. Nobody saw that coming. He was quite the prospect and even looked like a real talent a lot of times in the NBA.

There's a level of opposing team talent below which even board members on RealGM would look like prime Lebron.

As much as people are saying that KK is bad, I'd have taken him on our team last year in the playoffs with all the injuries. I think he's better than the last 3 or 4 guys we had at the end of our bench.

Knox with his length and all would be amazing on a Splash-type Warriors team. him at small-ball center or the 4 would be really good. He looks like he is actually competing for rebounds.

Hope he lands somewhere and gets a real chance.

I think he was a good strategist and money manager. Like a proto Brock Aller. That was important, even if Brock is better. His talent evaluation wasn't good though.

He was but he fell. I think his measurements weren't what people expected. He looked huge vs college talent. Without a size advantage, what he brings is not exceptional but still late lottery talent.

I don't think Thibs would trust him out there though in a playoff game. It took him awhile to trust Deuce and he is a Thibs guy. But yea, Knox is still young and definitely better than our end of the bench guys last year.
