That's the most positive thing I take out of all of that. I just hope having a shot at a #6 seed or play-in isn't construed as 'go for it' territory, but I fear that's exactly what will happen.

The east is gonna really be horrible next year, so I would not be surprised if we get in the 4-5 spot. Giannis is likely gone and Boston is gonna have to move guys and play without Tatum. Assuming the top 3 is a permutation of Pacers-Cav-Knicks

Who else can get there? The Magic? The Pistons?

Would you be willing to sell out at the deadline for a shot at competing next season if we were locked in at #6 and had a shot at #4-5? If selling out meant emptying the cupboard based on Embiid and George being playoff contributors, count me out.

The Magic and Pistons will likely improve this summer, and I don't see the Pacers, Knicks, or Cavs dropping off significantly if at all. As good an organization as they are, the Celtics will likely find a way to be pretty good as well if they don't do a Warriors-like one year tank. The smart play, to me, is to learn what we have in our youth and move as much of the aging dreck as possible before the deadline. Then let the chips fall and plan for summer '26.

Now we are in the middle of the draft talks, but we cant forget that we got a steal with Mccain last season, whos was going to be the ROY if he didnt get injured. He´s such a smart player, and his 3 pt shot is pure. I think he will be Maxey´s backup netx season, and will have great numbers. He´s a good passer, i can see him becoming a lead guard, in his best case scenario, kinda like a Temu version of Brunson

Something of note about Morey's comments recently. He keeps saying everyone in the rotation around our big 3 will be 25-26 years old. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but it almost feels like a guarantee that Oubre gets traded. I can't see them keeping him around at $8 mil to be the 10th or 11th man off the bench.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Barlow
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

Hopefully we can infer Drummond and Gordon get traded, too. Since Morey said he expects all 3 to pick up their options.

Yea potentially, or at least one could be added to Oubre to acquire a bigger salary.

If we draft Ace, I don’t see room for him, Oubre, and Edwards on this team.

If Morey is serious about the youth movement, I hope we purse LaRavia (TMLE) and Jalen Smith (trade).

The player option dates for Drummond, Oubre and Gordon are all after the draft, so we'd need them to agree to any draft day trade involving them.

If we can swing it financially to resign Grimes while keeping Yabusele that would be my preference. I know he's 29... so that's a little old, but i feel like he doesn't have all the nba miles of other guys (maybe he has more, i don't know), but if we could get him for a couple years, really love the energy that he plays with, its younger than his age, imo

1. Giannis
2. Flagg
3. Zion (healthy)
4. Embiid (healthy)
5. Harper
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry

Or Hassan Whiteside. Whiteside and Drummond on the same team with Joel will be awkward as hell

Another two-timeline plan:

1. Trade #3/Oubre/Gordon for #7/Jones
2. Draft Noa Essengue at #7
3. Re-sign Yabusele with the TMLE

Maxey/McCain/Butler
Grimes/Edwards/(empty)
George/Jones/Council
Yabusele/Essengue/(#35)
Embiid/Bona/Drummond
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Barlow
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

Wrong. Brunson is McCain’s floor at this point.

Whether we like it or not, we’re going into next season trying to win. And if that’s the case, shouldn’t we seriously consider upgrading at the center position? I don’t understand why bringing this up always leads to “that means Embiid is gone” conversations, it’s like the equivalent of the “don’t overthink it”.

Looking back at last season, the two biggest issues were shot creation and defense. The third overall pick should help address the shot creation problem, not that he’ll carry the entire load, but alongside guys like PG and Tyrese, we should have enough options to manage that end.

Defensively, though, it’s a different story. Drummond looked unplayable in key moments, Yabusele offers zero rim protection and is a net negative at center, and Bona is still unproven.

Sure, there are intriguing bigs available at 35.. like Hansen Yang, Zikarsky, or Niederhauser, but expecting a rookie, especially a 2nd rounder, to anchor atleast a playoff caliber defense is unrealistic.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
