Great movie, awesome music all around ... that Miles Caton sounds like an old blues legend, hopefully this is a breakout for him

The main theme I take from this movie is how an unjust world will try to 'take your light' away and you do what you can to shine through anyway

Can’t wait to go see this again in IMAX was a good experience in standard format, but from the photos I’ve seen of it in IMAX definitely missed out on some elements. Being a musician and family roots in Mississippi, this one hit home. Got chills a bunch throughout this film.

Just a very cool, thoughtful project.

Thought the dude in this video really broke down the history of everything and why Coogler made the choices he did. Also sheds more light on the vampire motives… definitely a fresh take.

Kinda hoping there'll be a sequel even though Coogler said it was a one and done.

People on social media are basically begging for Coogler to allow a publisher to produce graphic novels depicting the story of the Twins prior to the start of the film.

I agree with him though. The film is going to be regarded as a classic. There's no need for a sequel.

I have to confess I thought this thread would be devoted to the children of Hanspeter and Siglinde Sinner.

Agreed. We don't need to know what the Smoke-Stack twins were doing in Chicago. We know they were gangsters who robbed the Chicago mobs in prohibition. I don't need to see how that was done.

Sinners is a hundred times better than Anora that's for sure! If Sinners was released last year it would easily beat Anora at this year's Oscars. But i mean the Academy is probably full of drunks and drug addicts, so i guess nothing is a sure thing :o

If Ryan Coogler, Michael B. Jordan, Delroy Lindo, and Ludwig Göransson aren't walking away with Oscars, the Academy is not a serious institution.

Coogler will own his movie rights in 25 years....I doubt they want to encourage or promote that sort of independence.

One of the most competent, and one of the most FUN movies I have seen in years. I loved the setup before the midpoint twist. I loved how the vampires didn't seem all that bad. Coogler even spoke about this in an interview -- they present a pretty "sweet deal". But in the end, rejecting conformity (religion w/ the dad, musical/cultural appropriation w/ the vampires) is the message. The music has been stuck in my head for days.

Didn't Tarantino do something similar?
