Ideally, I think you could trade Fox for a bigger upgrade in the forward position, but I don't know how many teams will be interested in giving away solid role players for a guy who is just starting a big extension that lasts until 2030.
That is the issue with the Spurs as they move forward.
It is Wemby and 4 guys in the 6'6 and under league. Barnes at 6'8" will do his best but SAS needs some PF/SF Size.

What’s embarrassing imo is anyone who watched the Spurs last season knows this was a glaring weakness last season too & despite a plethora of assets they didn’t address it really this offseason. At least not in the right way … outside of Wemby, their rebounding isn’t good & you need some rebounders along a shot blocker to maximize your defense

They started addressing it by signing Kornet which allows Wemby to play more at the 4.
They played together more than most expected in the first two games and were quite effective.
Yes the Spurs obviously need to improve at the forward spot, but shoring up the center rotation was an even bigger priority, and they still have some young guys who could develop at forward (Sochan, now Carter Bryant as well, and Vassell while not really young is entering his prime, can play the 3, and they are looking at him to defend better this season).
They had no such youth potential at center, just Wemby and g-league level guys.
The idea that they should just fix all their roster flaws in one offseason is kind of silly imo. They have made steps to improve each season, but can't just take on big contracts at every position with Wemby's extension coming and a plethora of future picks that they aren't sure what they will be doing with yet.
I think their approach is to be aggressive but not in a rush, and that's the right approach. As much as I wish they were ready to compete for a title this year, one bad signing can also be crippling for future roster building, and avoiding that is just as important as hitting on the guys they do sign.
