Giddey and Ayo were both terrific.
Billy gets a ton of praise from me for getting the most out of what we have.

Would not be surprised if Giddey is an AS this season.

For some reason that dunk sort reminded me of a classic Rose two footed Oop. He was so high above everybody else and just caught it with ease. You can almost never throw it too high for Matas or Rose in his prime.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

The only reason to start him is to make the bench mob better. Not sure he's even 10th man quality. Runs down blind alleys, can't shoot, can't pass.

After the game, the Knicks announcers said "The Knicks have a Giddey problem". The new bench mob of Ayo, Huerter, Pat and Smith made a big difference tonight. Their level of play is a big differentiator for us.
Giddey has attacked the paint so effectively, it's been amazing.
Vuc was doing damage against Towns, who is an equally inept rim defender
Ayo kept his crazy efficient game going. Really nice game.
Huerter continuing doing a little of everything on both ends.
Jones didn't have a big night, but he made his presence felt.
Pat didn't score much, but he is starting to impact the game when he doesn't have the ball.
You know how every team has those guys who just kill them? Giddey is one of those guys for the Knicks. He put up triple doubles every year in the garden when he played for OKC. Even as a rookie.

He had a classic Bogans statline tonight: 16 minutes, 3 points

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.
NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Billy said guys came back early and just played a bunch of 5 on 5 in training camp. Makes sense with Vuc having a long summer with Euro play. Guys came back ready to play.

Hey contrary to popluar belief. I do try to be nice. He is Dleague offensive player and a decent positional defender. If he was longer or taller. He would be a much better player. He is to short and not explosive enough for his skillset. He is a Tony Allen level offensive player without the extraordinary defense.

Okoro will be better soon enough. How much better? Probably not a ton, but he's way below his career norms. No way he's this bad all season.

Okoro had great spacing in Cleveland. I don't think he is getting the window he was getting last year. His release needs to be faster if he wants to get those corner 3s up.

The Knicks comeback was leave him open. HE was out there wide-open and they were not rotating in the 2nd half.

Re: PG: First time in 29 years
In hindsight the Bulls fleeced OKC in the Giddey trade. Nobody in OKC regrets it for a second given Flags Fly Forever but AC as much fun as he is -- is a "luxury player" and Giddey has turned into tempo setting primary handler that can shoot from deep a bit, a top 10ish that style in the league.

Re: PG: First time in 29 years
Also, well done for AK getting Giddey on that $25m number. As I said in the off season threads about it, I had/have belief that Giddey could play up to a $35m per annum contract. The big query is will he be able to maintain in the playoffs when the Bulls get back there.
Of course this is still small sample size too, but he is an improver and this level of production (20/8/8) was always going to be inevitable when he got a proper game manager role. I am repeating former statements, but that 16/8/6 as a 2nd option in year two was illustrative of what his nature as a player is. It is a case of how badly do the weaknesses hurt him and the team, and can his scoring get even better.
Being forced to play off ball for a full season and a half may have been a blessing in disguise for both him and the team given how his open three point shooting has evolved. If he can be a 23 ppg type player in the long term, that is legit 2nd option level scoring. Or even 1a 1b 1c level scoring if you have a team that is flat and wide on talent.
