Marko Jaric is 2 rebounds shy of a triple double at the start of the 4th for the Wolves.

warriors can't afford to be giving these games away. making the playoffs is going to come down to 2-3 games.

You know if Gilbert is able to come back and provide another capable defender and let Caron and Antwan carry the offense the Wizards are going to be trouble, TROUBLE for teams in the playoff's......

I think you're confused: it's Adelman's teams that consistently choke down the stretch. McMillan's teams consistently over-achieve. :P

Bringing back one of the most efficient scorers in the league to let him play defense and let Jamison and Butler carry the offense? Now I've heard it all.

Jamison's and Butler's averages are only up slightly from last year when Arenas had one of his most prolific seasons as a scorer.

If anything they need Arenas back to keep teams from crowding Butler and to get an inside scoring threat.

Arenas' last season FG %41.8, you call that efficient?

Yeah that's what I think.

The Wizards are playing great right now. The chemistry seems to be right.

So what do you think would be more disruptive:

a. Arenas coming back into his traditional role of 20 shot attempts a game

or

b. Arenas taking 10-12 shots and putting more energy into his defense

It's an easy call to me. No one gets mad at someone defending too hard, but taking too many shots; yeah people can get irritated with that. Especially since the Wiz are winning.......

No respectable statistician uses field goal percentage anymore. It is an unnecessary stat since the introduction of the 3pt line.

They, instead, use TS% and eFG% among other things, and Arenas ranks as one of the most efficient scorers in the nba. He hits a decent portion of his 3's (something he takes a lot of - more than 7 per game, IIRC, last season) and gets to the free throw line a ton (2nd in free throws made and attempted last season, IIRC) while being able to hit over 82% of the aforementioned free throws.

There's a reason the Wizards have gone from 3rd in offensive efficiency with a healthy Arenas to 12th without Arenas.

At first (meaning the first 5 games or so), he will be coming off the bench -- something he has already publically stated. This will already mean less shot attempts and a less prominent role on our team for Gilbert.

But don't fool yourself, the key is to get this team back to how it was offensively last season - giving the best and most efficient scorer (Gilbert) the most scoring opportunities.

It bears repeating again - with Arenas, we are an ultra-efficient offensive team. The problem has always been defense. Defense has been corrected this year and will only improve with Arenas' return, as will the offensive (in time).

Wizards are playing really well, but Arenas will make them even better. Its not like Arenas is some kind of cancer we are talking about... A player usually takes a lot of volume shots because its what helps the team stay in or win the game. Now, because of many factors, the Wizards won't need that many volume shots from one player. I expect Arenas to take less shots when he comes back, and like any good player, just play to win (within the team).

Exactly. Arenas is one of the most explose guards in the league and our best player at getting to the line. Getting him will only help out Butler and Jamison but for some reason people want to think Antonio Daniels is a better than option than him.
