we need a guy who can come in, grab some boards and body up the opposing center, nothing more... Kwame could do that. With Wade, B-EZ, and Marion (or whoever replaces him) coming, he won't be called on to score

The guy is just not worth the MLE or 3/4 (which he'll probably get). Besides is obvious health issues, he's a nut-less, borderline cancer who negatively affects any team he is playing for. He provides no help side D whatsoever (.7 career blk avg.), he's a turnover machine (1.5 career avg. TOs in 24 mins avg.), and cannot finish, consistently blowing wide open lay ups and dunks. His glaring weaknesses are the Heat's glaring weaknesses. No thanks.

while all the talk of Hinrich and to a lesser extent MoWill are intriguing, its not realistic....

Riley is going to stick to his game plan for MAX flexibility in 2010, whatever PG we sign (and I dont know if we even will considering we tendered the QO to Quinn, we have Banks under contract and Chalmers aboard) it will have to be a PG that is willing to accept a 1-2 year deal at around 1/2 the MLE most likely. Riley will probably look to add two FAs with the MLE both on 1-2 year deals...a big and a possibly a PG. he may split the MLE between a big and a 3pt gunner though and just go with what we have already at PG.

There's probably not a FA center out there that doesn't suck hard. We have to decide what glaring weakness we accept. I was ok, or maybe I should say resigned to a center of Kwame's ability for a 1 year rental, but since seeing his injury history the past four years, I wouldn't take him either.

Diop is expected by Riley to be back for Dallas.

Center list:
Emeka Okafor - too much money
Andres Biendris - too much money
Nenad Krstic - could be MLE, but will want max years
Robert Swift - guessing he'd get MLE at least for max years
Desagana Diop - expected back in Dallas
Kurt Thomas - Probably stay with the Spurs, closer to contention than us, fits system, will pay him adequately
Chris Mihm - injury concerns, was good a few years ago
Scot Pollard - good energy, not a big minute guy though, and has had some injuries
Kwame Brown - major injury history, and no offense
Jamaal Magloire - injury has seen him hardly play the last couple of years
Theo Ratliff - old and injured often
Primoz Brezec - not really sure what this guy is worth, but he could be ok.
Michael Doleac - Not a big minute guy, but knows the system
David Harrison - Seems his game flatlined, still young, probably won't command a huge amount - scrub
Dikembe Mutumbo - Well, old and still somehow effective, won't leave Houston IMO
Chris Anderson - guy will be back with a vengeance and well rested, probably surprisingly one of the better options in FA, would likely take a short contract.
Brian Skinner - modest reserve center, could be had cheap.
Lorenzen Wright - injuries and getting up there in age.

3. Primoz Brezec

5. Michael Doleac

with those players available I almost rather run Haslem at C to start the game and give Blount/Zo/Joel Anthony minutes behind him.......why waste $ on players that wont produce any more then what we already have?

I know we more then likely WILL add someone but boy that list is scary !

if we could get David Harrison on the cheap, I'd like that. He's a big broad body, and a decent posistional defender(due to his big frame). Still young. Would be decent aside Beasley. He's restricted, though. But being that the Pacers drafted Hibbert, you'd think they let him go.

Mark Blount is better than those centers. We don't need a center so desperately that we have to sign one of those guys. We can live with Blount at center this year if no better options are available, but we also must start acquiring long term pieces to the team that will help us develop chemistry and win a championship soon. Whether that be acquiring a C, PG, SF, bench pieces, or whatever, something needs to be done. We can't just expect to build a championship team in 2010 out of no where and compete.

ughh i was looking at the ESPN Free Agent list..not a lot of good options...best ones are Kurt Thomas and Dikembe Mutombo and theyre probably staying. Skinner seems realistic.

^^ You guys are underrating Chris "Bird Man" Anderson. Like Marty said, he will come back strong this year. Anderson does things Blount can only dream about. He may not be a starter but you put him in a rotation of Blount/ Zo / Joel Anthony along with Haslem, I feel the Heat would be set at the C position as well.

I think you then make a run at signing Pietrus, IF the Heat think Marion is likely to be traded anytime this season. I think a duo or Pietrus and DWright can get the job done at SF with Beasley able to move over as well (IF Marion is traded.)
