Re: Countdown to heartbreak (*Draft thread pt.II)
The value of the 18th pick seems closer to the value of the 5th/6th pick this year than any other year in the recent past that I can think of. It's not too long ago Teague was projected to be our TOP pick. I really like that we have that Miami pick this year, we should be able to get a very nice player there. We really hosed them in that trade.

heh, yea that ship got abandoned in a hurry, but come around draft time, teams will find ways to make excuses for him because the guy looks like he was built in an All Star Small Forward factory. I liked him very much circa Duke/Georgetown, then after that he went downhill; great that he's the best athlete on the floor many times, but if he doesn't do anything with it, then what's the point....
Compare his #'s to Jeff Green's junior #'s
Green: 37 gp - 33.3 mpg - 14.3 ppg - 6.4 reb - 1.23 a/t - .8 stl - 1.2 blk - .513 fg% - .375 3p% - 382 fga - 96 3pa - 129 fta
Summers: 31 gp - 29.4 mpg - 13.6 ppg - 4.1 reb - .48 a/t - 1.1 stl - .7blk - .474 fg% - .385 3p% - 289 fga - 135 3pa - 136 fta
PPG not that far off, but Summers gets his by a ton more 3pa, almost 1/2 his fga are threes. Again, you're the best athlete on the floor and your bread and butter is taking a three? And you don't rebound or shut people down on defense....so then he might as well be Jon Barry. 6'8 235 of pure muscle and it doesn't make the least bit difference.
Maybe it is the Georgetown system holding him back, but I won't be willing to experiment until the Boston pick at the very earliest, so I think 1st round bubble projection is appropriate, but I'm sure somebody will be intrigued enough to draft him before then.

I loved Summers about 2 months ago. I'd jump up and down if we got him with Boston's pick, assuming we got like Evans and Mullens with ours and Miami's picks. Or Thabeet and Holiday.

hopefully he's lying, otherwise he needs a mild beating for giving anybody clues as to what we might be looking at in the draft

There is absolutely no excuse for us not to get an upgrade for Telfair in this draft.

I don't think they need the draft to upgrade Telfair. Seriously, they could just hand out 10 day contracts to guys playing at the YMCA and find an upgrade over Telfair.

Brock Lesnar would make a very good point guard.

Ricky Rubio
Brandon Jennings
Tyreke Evans
Stephen Curry
Ty Lawson
Jonny Flynn
Jeff Teague
Eric Maynor
Jrue Holiday
Darren Collison
Nick Calathes
Patrick Mills
AJ Price
Tyrese Rice
Greivis Vasquez
Jack McClinton (More like an Eddie House clone)
Ben Woodside
Sherron Collins
compared to:
Sebastian Telfair
Kevin Ollie
Bobby Brown
Don't get me wrong, I love Earl Clark, but how is PG not our primary concern in this draft? They better realize that the BPA will probably be a back court player.

Re: Countdown to heartbreak (*Draft thread pt.II)
I've heard good things about this Peter Griffin guy. I think he could end up being a 2nd round steal.
Our concerns are clearly a 7 foot shotblocking, rebounding center and a legit point guard.
If Thabeet is there, I think you take him. If not, hopefully they focus on one of the bigger point guards, like Evans. Then hopefully they can get a center later in the draft like Jordan or Mullens.
Clark, Holiday, and Jordan would be a nice draft.
Evans, Mullens, and Johnson would probably be my preferred, though.

if only there was somebody that could do both, we could kill 2 birds w/ one stone, and that my friend is a big-time time-saver. I can't count how many times I've been trying to slaughter a flock of birds w/ rocks and thought to myself "I could be out here all day! If only I could nab a couple of these SOB's with a single murderous toss of the rock..."

Re: Countdown to heartbreak (*Draft thread pt.II)
Reminds me of a time when I was 13 and fishing at the Coon Rapids Dam. Yeah, I don't recommend it.
Anyways, I got bored, started skipping rocks across the little pond area where we were fishing and a goose landed about the spot I was skipping rocks, right as I let one go. There's no chance in hell I could have done this if I tried, but the rock caught the goose right in the neck and it's head flopped over. I'm pretty sure I broke it's neck and killed it, but I don't know for sure because we took off running faster than Kevlar after a Krispie Kreme truck.
I might have stuck around if I hit two birds with that stone.

I don't agree with that. We were projected to have the third pick and that is the pick we got. We were tied with Memphis, and won the coin toss so in the event of a tiebreaker we would win. Other teams moved up and down, we stayed the same.

Re: Countdown to heartbreak (*Draft thread pt.II)
Nope.
The way I see it is, it's like driving to the casino and getting pulled over for speeding. You get a $120 ticket, but continue on to the casino. Once you get there you win $120 bucks.
Yeah your net result is $0, but you still won $120 dollars. You just don't have any more money in your wallet than when you left your house.

Re: Countdown to heartbreak (*Draft thread pt.II)
We also need to keep in mind that we need that second or possibly even first option to go alongside Al Jefferson. Besides Al we don't really have any go to scorers. Foye can be that guy some nights but we need that guy who will be there every night. Good news is that we can get this guy through trade and Free agency but if we think he is there in this drat; and he is a fit, we have to take him.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

RUbio/Thabeet/Harden in that order for me
