Though I think I am guessing a little low. Probably more like 52. Specially with teams tanking for the draft.

I don't think they will be trading Trevor A. They are going to need him to help against Paul George in the playoffs if they want to get out of the first round. Now if they trade Trevor A because they think they can get something that helps them more for longer term planning, then this might be high. I would assume they only do that if Otto is really balln in which case they could actually upgrade at PG like CCJ is suggesting which would lend more toward the high side.

NY is way vulnerable with injuries at PF.

They are going to alternate Amare and Kenyon every other game and try to save them for the playoff. That should add up to extra loses during the season.

Melo will need to move to PF, with MWP at SF and no real depth behind either if they rack up injuries. That house of card could come crumbling down in a hurry. Specially if T Chandler goes down.

I have the Wiz battling Indy for 4th. Loser gets 5th seed. NY 6th Who cares after that because we won't be playing them.

That puts Wiz vs Indy in the playoff. And they actually match up well. Indy has the playoff experience as a team but the Wizards do have Nene, Trevor A, AH and Gortat with experience. Its going to be all about what Wall and Beal can do if they are to advance and that's what this season was designed to do from the start. Gotta get that 4th seed and home court to give them the extra edge they need.

Battling for 4th should have them in the 47 to 52 range so 49 should get me close to the final record.

So 49. Best record since 1978.

Actually they only need to win 46 to achieve that so you should be watching history in the making.

Big question is going to be, do they cash in on Trevor A before the playoff run or leave it where he can walk for nothing ? Or resign ? Thats going to be a big decision. Trevor A is a proven SF that can play in a championship level game. Not a lot of those out there.

Looking like it should be a fun season. Expect a lot of new fans on the site.

Two people voted for 27 wins, which seems kind of pessimistic, but notice that two more voted for 82 wins, which seems overly optimistic. The average seems to be in the low to mid 40s, which doesn't seem overly pessimistic or optimistic. Seems kind of realistic.

I'm revising my prediction to 39-43. I don't like the trade or Gortat as a fit with our roster. I don't see a great synergy with the roster beyond the Wall/Beal pairing. Especially since Ariza has replaced Webster in the starting lineup. Were still very susceptible to injuries as the roster is still 7 to 8 deep at best in terms of actual NBA talent. Any significant injuries to one of Wall, Beal, Nene or Gortat likely puts us back in the same position as before.

Best case scenario IMO is 45-37 with excellent health and stealing a game against Chicago or Miami in the 1st round of the playoffs before losing 4-1. Worst case scenario is what I'm predicting. We'll barely miss the playoffs and it will go down to the last game of the season. We'll also lose lottery pick in the process and likely Gortat as well.

It seems like the Wizards have spent all these years rebuilding just to get back to where they were. A middling playoff team with no real championship aspirations.

Actually I think we have the talent on paper to do a lot better, health permitting... but how often does health permit when it comes to the Wizards?

Still can't get over how the last time we were over 50 wins was 78-79, almost 35 years ago.

I had us at a low win number because I was expecting Okafor to be out, Nene to miss 30 games, and the flotsam to suck.

I like Gortat, the player, and I think his acquisition will allow us to play Nene less minutes, so overall there's going to be a huge upgrade in overall health of the team as a result of this trade. Hate the future consequences all you want but this season is going to be nice. I'm forced to upgrade my prediction to 47 wins, and I still think that's pessimistic. This team has 50 win potential written all over it.
