I swear to god I read some blurb from one of our writers before the game that Embiid would sit vs the Lakers but now I'm wondering if it was quickly deleted or if I'm going crazy

Apologies if I'm incorrect

Perhaps it was presumptive since he had rolled his ankle prior to the game.

Seems like he's going to play though.

^ I really wish the mentality was more of "this is what we are going to do, lets make them adjust" rather than we will alter what we do to match them.

Embiid is really changing the game. Some of his passes against Toronto were amazing for a 7'2" rookie...truly insane.

Good for Embiid for putting this stupid plan on blast.

it's sick isn't it. embiid getting the ball at the top of the key, fake a 3, then drive and as the defense collapses, thread the needle to a cutting simmons or josh jackson, or dish it out to fultz, monk or ball for a 3.

That is an old sig I used two years ago. Fischella posted that on the NBA draft board in January 2014. Basically calling anyone idiots, who thought Joel Embiid was a better prospect than Wiggins, Parker, Randle, Smart or Exum.

"After the quarter point of the college basketball season, who do you have #1". Post #71.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Imo as a Raptors fan if you guys want to take the next step wait out this year, get that 3rd player in the draft then trade both Noel and Okafor and build a team around Simmons, Embid, draft pick. By year 3 of this you might be a playoff team.

Way off topic. Kobble, you were not a believer in Giannis when he came into the league. You were very vocal in criticizing him. Thoughts now?

Do we need to wrap our guys in bubble wrap and lock them in padded rooms when they're not playing? It really is ridiculous how fragile this team is.

I was wrong. In my defense, Giannis was impossible to evaluate. There were 10 total games of an Under-20 tournament of him to work with. That's it. Which is why he slid to 15. Nobody knew he'd be this good.

Just in the last week we've had:

- Noel sprain his ankle 10 minutes after returning from an injury that sidelined him the first 20+ games

- Okafor and Rodriguez miss games with stomach flu symptoms

- Embiid misses a game due to elbow inflammation.

- Bayless has season ending surgery on his wrist. Signed to be our starting PG, only played 3 games.

- Embiid nearly misses his last game due to tweaking his ankle during warmups. Spends a good portion of the 2nd quarter in the locker room after absorbing a Turkish backhand from his own teammate.

- Since last playing less than 48 hours ago, Embiid sustains a knee contusion that will likely sideline him for tonight's game.

Just a typical week in Sixerville.

I don't want Embiid to be unhappy, or play away from the block for long stretches. I want to try it until Simmons returns largely because I want to see how it would work afterward with Okafor and Embiid together for less than 10 minutes.

That is the method to the madness from my perspective. Try it out to see if it can work in real minutes now, to assess if it can work in limited minutes later.

That being said, trading Okafor would be fine with me as that is the single easiest way to alleviate the log jam. Then we would be up against it with Noel at the end of the year, but if that is the case then so be it.

We just need to make a decision, and unfortunately we will probably have to wait until the trade deadline in order to make a move.

What are the chances Embiid plays tonight?

Would suck if he sits out versus us today

Don't know.

Yesterday he was probable, and today he is apparently questionable.

Not really a fan of Joel complaining about something like this after one game to the 2nd best team in the conference. He's had the second highest usage rate in the league after Westbrook. That was bound to come down at some point and it's only going to get worse when Simmons get's back. So complaining about touches and where you play right now is a bit of a red flag for me.
