Re: Official 2021 NBA Draft Thread
I was just about to post that. Well the topic of our 2nd rounder I mean. Im all for drafting a scoring big in the mold of Garza or a stretch 4 like Matt Hurt.. you know instead of our usual selling the pick OR drafting longboi athletes without any offensive skill ( looking at you Wes, Justin, Melvin )

Re: Official 2021 NBA Draft Thread
Catching up on Ignite game 2 now ...
Just two games in but Kuminga and Green are showing us why this is a 5 man class.
Cade, Suggs and Mobley have won most of us over already.
I don’t care about fit at all. NO ONE on this roster is worth building around.
Yes, I have a preference but give me any of those 5 when it is all said and done and I’ll be happy. Trade whoever you need to based on how the dominoes fall.

Re: Official 2021 NBA Draft Thread
Ok I watched the 3rd game or the highlights of the Gleague Ignite vs Raptors 905
First off, is it me or does Green and Kuminga not play that hard defense compared to the other teams and even teammates? Well, if it's purpose was to showcase them I understand. Scoring is more eye-candy than defense.
Second, Kuminga I think is solidifying that belief that he can play SF full-time. He can body and finish through contact even against NBA vets and he can dribble-thru against bigger players.
Third.. Green.. wow He is a pure scorer. He even showed some 3-pt range. Guy just flies. If AG flies with power, Green flies with grace.
We need top-5!!! Cade Suggs Green.. then Kuminga then Mobley!!!
P.S. Their PG Nix would be squality staring PG in this league with his skill. Needs to shed off 20-30 lbs though. That much blubber can hurt your knees.

With last night's loss, the Magic currently has a 45% chance to win a top-4 pick in the draft lottery.

Nix isn't bad at all, he has that deron williams feel....except not as shifty and a bit bigger....he got to lose the baby fat

If the lotto-balls do not fall, thoughts on Moses Moody to Orlando?

With a high pick in the second, the Magic can reasonably assume to gain some nice depth for the bench. In that I like two upper classmen: Isaiah Livers-Michigan and MJ Walker-Florida St. Both have NBA-related skills (distance shooting is good forth) and either should be a nice practice-squad player until they NBA playing time is gained/earned.
..

I never heard of them.. but if you want shooting, then Matt Hurt is your guy. Guy is doing Dirk's one legged fade-away and his 3pt shoot is wow. Being 6'11-7'0 players can't block him easily. Just don't ask him to play defense lol.
But if we want seniors, then why not Garza? LOL we need scoring right?

Im a fan of his early in the process. His shooting and size will fit the nba and our team.
Williams might have a higher ceiling but moody and bouknight fit our needs.

You should.. if we drop out of the top 5, my chiice would be 1A Zaire ( i mean he just got back to playing after a while ) and 1B Johnson ( especially IF he takes his team deep in the tourney )

Re: Official 2021 NBA Draft Thread
Green is quickly dropping to the lower end of the top 5 for me. I need to see him show more shake off his dribble, and some more play making. Would be good to see some PnR. The fast breaks really aren’t of much value to see. His hops and hang time are freakish and he’s not afraid to attack so he might end up at the line a lot.

Hmmm you actually have the opposite sentiment to the others i talked about. They see Greens 3pt range, speed, atheltic ability and the out of this world hang time and they have him number 3 at worst. Agree about the dribble but not so the playmaking. If you want playmaking then go for Suggs and Cade. Those wanting Green want a puring scorig machine cuz their teams are in a scoring drought.

Don’t get me wrong, I would be ecstatic to have the kid on this team. But I think he has a bit more work ahead of him to get his skill to catch up to his athleticism to be a successful pure scorer who doesn’t need a set up man compared to Cade, Suggs and even Kuminga who already seem better creating for themselves and others.
Right now those 4 are all in the same category of “if only!” for me. Big fan of all of them.

Johnson, Springer, Bouknight are all fine options after top5 for us.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Re: Official 2021 NBA Draft Thread
I think Green is best pure scorer in the draft.
But ball-dominant SGs really need to have some secondary playmaking skills and help their point guard run the offense in the current NBA and that isn’t something Green has really shown at all yet.
Green also reminds me of Cole Anthony a little bit in the respect that he appears to give effort defensively, but also looks lost and confused on that end most of the time. Ultimately that’s probably to be expected given his age.
We’ll see how both of those things develops over time.

Re: Official 2021 NBA Draft Thread
I can't watch G league and take anything from it serious.
Jordan Poole last year in nba averaged 8,8 ppg on 33% FG and 27,9% for 3
in G league he looks like next Michael Jordan with shooting stroke of Steph Curry.
Over two years in G league he averages 25 ppg ,5 rpg and 3 apg on 38,5% for 3.
it's just terrible competition and almost every "takeaway" is hot take and nothing else.
i won't be suprised if you send Green to nba and he looks like complete bum until he plishes his offense.
