Blazers may be a good fit

True...I would even do it without Simmons, maybe we even get a pick or something...even no pick I would just do it and move on. Flip Nance or Covington, and could probably get a pick

RJ actually started this season pretty strong, but then fell off a cliff.

1st 9 games: 19.2 ppg on .474 FG% and .400 3P%
Next 10 games: 10.2 ppg on .324 FG% and .235 3P%
Next 13 games: 19.6 ppg on .428 FG% and .385 3P%

We don't really know what happened during that 10 game stretch -- maybe he was banged up, maybe it was the "non-COVID illness" he had, or maybe it was just plain inconsistency. Even among those strong stretches, he's still had games where he shoots like 1-8 from deep and then comes back and hits 5-8 the next night. He's young and inconsistent in general. It's just that he had a pretty terrible 10-game period in November where he didn't really have any of those bounce-back nights and couldn't hit a 3 to save his life.

It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the season unfolds for him.

Randle works in a limited role. That's why the extension he received was ridiculous. It will prevent us from paying stars. I don't really see what star is coming here but...you never know. Now we are locked in to paying a role player near max money. Same old Knicks.

The team looks better when guards are running the offense. Randle is not a point forward. Thibs is a moron. Period. His love of vet players has been a problem. His offense is garbage. His minute's distribution is insanity. His lack of accountability for vets .. especially Randle is ridiculous.

Whatever. I'm not taking too much from beating the Spurs but...it was good to see other players involved in the game. Much better than watching Julius dribble like a toddler...spin into triple teams...pound the air out of the ball...while everyone else stands around waiting for a bail out pass.

On to the next one. Waiting for the TDL to see what the FO does.

So then we can see more PNR action with Mitch or Obi as the roll man.

This ISO Randle madness has to stop. The league has adjusted, these possessions are not good for anybody.
for Turner. Indy might be a good place for him.

yeah MSG postgame trying to sugar coat it like he was playing within the offense. That is complete BS if you watched the game.

He was amped up to prove the crowd wrong made a tough step back to start the game and thought he was feelign it. He then took like 3 or 4 shots right after that and bricked them all. Then he curled up into a ball and was playing like the ball was a hot potato the rest of the game.

couldn't agree more

NoDopeOnSundays wrote:The touches stat for last night's game are in, and surprise surprise, IQ had as many touches as Randle who was at 67 touches for the game, he averages 77 for the season. RJ has 52 touches but the most important part is that he had 36 front court touches to Randles 37, so more of the offense went through RJ obviously. On the season RJ is at 28 front court touches per game while Randle is 4th in the league in front court touches at 48 per game and is by far the least efficient offensive player in the top 5 for that stat.

Put the ball in the guards hands more, take it out of Randles hands already.

I don't agree that Randle is a bad player, but I do agree with your bolded sentence above. That is the key to winning games and using Randle as a finisher, not a pretend playmaker. He is NOT a "point forward" — he is not Lebron. But he can be useful if he is made to play within a system.

YES, we need a real point guard full time (½ Kemba + ½ Rose, or a full time PG)!

That is a great way to break out his season. His low was really low, and long term that kind of inconsistency is unacceptable.

But Maybe it’s all a nescessary step in his growth. Struggles for a bit while adjusting/adding to his game, but when he starts getting comfortable he takes off. Every player develops a little differently. If he can gain some consistency he is def a very good player. It seems pretty achievable at the least. But if he is wildly inconsistent then things can go south fast. We will have to wait and see. Just the way RJ is so resilient, aggressive and works hard I wouldn’t bet against him.

i think they're gonna lean more towards trading dame this summer rather then trying to add pieces. they're going nowhere and he wants a contract that will make him the highest paid player in the league.

Fun fact time:

Last year, RJ shot 41% on 4 catch-and-shoot 3s a game

This year, he's shooting 38% on 4.2 catch-and-shoot 3s a game

Why's his 3pt% so much worse, then?

Because last year he took 20 pull-up 3s and made 6 of them (30%, 0.3 a game), but this year he's already taken 41 pull-up 3s and made 10 of them (24.4%, 1.2 a game). So he's made almost twice as many pull-up 3s this year as last year, in less than half as many games

But he's not good at it, at least not yet

Bonus fun fact, in 2018 at the age of 26, Khris Middleton was taking 3.6 catch-and-shoot 3s a game and shooting 39% on them, while also taking 1.3 pull-up 3s a game and shooting 29% on them

So, to recap

RJ at 21: 38% on 4.2 c&s, 24% on 1.2 pull-ups

Middleton at 26: 39% on 3.6 c&s, 29% on 1.3 pull-ups.
