On the tenth block, They kicked him out. Him, being the name of a song!
Let's reword that:
On the tenth block, They (being the man, the drum and the drum sticks) kicked/began to play (Slang To throw out) him - really Him. (Him is the name of a song!!!!)
Why? Because he wanted to play music. All of the other stuff is basically TOO MUCH INFO, designed to confuse one.
THIS IS the answer

Re: OT: Extremely Tough Riddle Challenge
My first thought was that he got kicked of because he was banging his drums. But given the hint that can't be it. So i read through the first 10 pages looking at everybody's answers and immediately i noticed a trend.
Why is everyone assuming that he used the dollar from the beginning of the riddle? The riddle says he had a dollar but it never says that the guy used that specific dollar to pay for everything.
"The riddle is:
A man had a dollar. He spent 80 cents for a drum and 10 cents for 2 drumsticks. He gave a streetcar driver a dime to drive him 13 blocks. On the tenth block they kicked him out. Why?
Hint: I tell you the answer every time I say the riddle."
Let's break it down:
- A man had a dollar. --> ok, good to know
- He spent 80 cents for a drum and 10 cents for 2 drumsticks. --> typical irrelevant riddle fluff meant to confuse
- He gave a streetcar driver a dime to drive him 13 blocks. --> This is the interesting part. It doesn't say the driver ASKED for a dime, he GAVE it to the driver. So we don't know if a dime was enough for the 13 blocks. I'm ASSUMING the dime wasn't enough for the simple reason that it's just an unusual number of blocks. For a dime you'd expect a more conventional number like 5 or 10. So basically my reasoning is that the guy claimed he only had a dime left and the driver was understanding of his situation and let the guy come along. Remember this was back in the good old days when not everything was registered on a computer, so the driver's likely to look the other way/pretend the guy wasn't on the street car for the blocks he didn't pay for.
- On the tenth block they kicked him out. --> "They" could be anyone, passenger(s) and driver or even the police, doesn't really matter.
- Why? --> The driver or passengers found out he still had a dollar somewhere along the way and thus knew that he tried to con the driver. Assuming 10 blocks cost a dime they kicked him out on the 10th because that's what he payed for.
- Hint: I tell you the answer every time I say the riddle. --> A man had a dollar.
I hope that makes sense, if it doesn't i'll go ahead and blame it on fatigue since it's 3.45 am here and i've been up since 6.30 am yesterday and only slept 2-3 hours before that. Perfect cover. It does seem like i'm assuming a bit too much but whatever, i've already wasted my time typing this out so i might as well post it.
I'll get back to it some other time. I wish this thread hadn't been in the "realgm hof" thread, i should've just stayed in the "big booty vs adorable face" thread.

In 1976, there was a movie that came out named "Drum" it was about slaves and such. This riddle is apparently from World War 2. Simple answer. This is Nazi Germany, the man is Jewish, who were thought of as slaves or "lesser beings". He was kicked out because they figured out his true identity.

Re: OT: Extremely Tough Riddle Challenge
I was thinking about this for a min. I was wrong before. The answer is in the riddle itself. We can't add anything to it.
So a friend of mine told me a riddle that he said has been passed down in his family since WW2. Only one living person at a time in his family knows it, and when they are dying, they only tell it to one other member to carry it on. He does not know the answer, and he bet me that I can't figure it out before he does. He said I can ask anyone in the world that I want for help, so I figured I will take to the bright minds on this board.
The riddle is:
A man had a dollar. He spent 80 cents for a drum and 10 cents for 2 drumsticks. He gave a streetcar driver a dime to drive him 13 blocks. On the tenth block they kicked him out. Why?
Hint: I tell you the answer every time I say the riddle.
The first part is a part of the riddle as well.
I'm still lost but it's becoming clearer for me. The wording is funny. First, you don't get kicked out of a bus(streetcar). You get kicked off. Also he said on instead of at. I don't think the man ever got off the bus. If he did the wording should be "ATthe tenth block they kicked him OFF".
Also, who is they? Only the driver was mentioned before. Now a new component enters the riddle.
I think this man was in WW2. "They" being the enemy kicked him out. Maybe "they" killed him?
Starting to confuse myself. I could be wrong. Just my new shot after my first guess.

Good luck guys. I look forward to your answers.
Just seen this. got to about page 11 then skipped ahead to see if its been solved.
also apologies if this answer has been given. but here is my take with out trying to be long winded...
"He gave a streetcar driver a dime to drive him 13 blocks. On the tenth block they kicked him out. Why?"
He only payed for himself to be driven 13blocks. the street car filled up with other passengers and he's drum & sticks where taking up a seat that a new passenger needed and had paid for. He didn't have anymore money and hence was kicked off...
Thats my take anyway. without over thinking it

Re: OT: Extremely Tough Riddle Challenge
This riddle is too crazy.
He gave him a dime, and it's 1 cent per block, so he was only able to go 10 blocks
Idk but would like to know the real answer but we'll never know

After all of the years of seeing this cursed thread, I like runnyc's answer and can finally accept it for the answer - even if it's not.
This thread can jump off a cliff now, thanks.
