The truth is that Bargnani is a terrible player and we are glad to be rid of him.

There is zero chance Bargnani becomes a fan favourite in NYC because he is incapable of rebounding the ball.

I am not trying to troll however if I was a NYK fan I would be furious.

NY fans do not cheer for rebounds.

NY fans cheer for passion.

NY fans cheer for effort.

NY fans cheer for fortitude.

Been to quite a few basketball games. Dont recall many fan chants for individual rebounds...

Probably Toronto is the only city where rebounding > scoring.

It's not surprising that Ed Davis was a fans' favourite; a guy with no offense, below average defense but a good instinct for rebounding. Look at him now in Memphis.

Most of them love hustling and athletic players. There is a reason if Bargs said "I'm playing basketball, not reboundball".

It's sad because as European I cheered for the Raptors since the days Vince was their franchise player, but in these years following Andrea's performance I was disgusted by their fanbase and lack of basketball culture.

Oh please bro. The Raptors are a horrible franchise.
Bargnani will just be a piece on the Knicks and will work very well off our superstar player, Carmelo. You guys drafted him #1, thinking he can carry a team. HUGE MISTAKE. All Bargnani is asked to do here is average 14-16ppg and be a piece of the puzzle. No one expects him to be a superstar here. We already have one.

Every player in the league has spurts of greatness... that is why they made the NBA. This is utterly useless... he will play 5-15 good games then sleep off during games.

If he can stay healthy, he will have a very good season. NYC will motivate him (see Felton) and he is playing next to a top 5 SUPERSTAR player, Carmelo Anthony.
This is not a terrible Raptors team where he was asked to carry the load.

No one in NYC is expecting him to be a star. We arent the stupid organization who drafted him #1.

Just wait and see their reaction when he comes into the Knicks camp in the best shape of his life and into the season HIGHLY motivated.

This is NYC under the spotlight. The guy will feed off of that.
And like others have said, CAMBY WAS COMPLETELY USELESS and Novak was extremely limited.
Even 10ppg is better then anything Camby or Novak gave us all year.

I can see Bargs and Pablo having great chemistry and becoming instant crowd favorites. Pablo did that last year with very limited time.

The huge Italian presence in NYC will embrace him and he will be very motivated. Lock.
He just has to stay as injury free as possible.

I am definitely not worried about his shape and motivation. I'm only worried about his injuries and health.

on the real though, I've been kinda on the fence with the trade. I can see the positivism (kid might play similar to his first couple of seasons/cap implications/overall usefullness over the package we sent out) and the negativity (rebounds... we need more rebounds!!!!) not too worried about the picks. Would've been better if we would've kept them. However, if camille's post is true (GG paying for Q's contract) that would put me on the negativity side. Money talks. Those 3 mil could be used in conjunction with another trade. Let's not go crazy and bare the cupboard, huh grunnie?
