Not sure but they are trying to get rid of salary. The guy that I would like to add is Markieff Morris in the draft. As a large full-sized PF that can defend, rebound, provide a little offense of his own, block at a decent rate, and most importantly perhaps hit the 3 ball he's more of a rare commodity than people think. I think next to a true back to the basket center like Andrew Bynum he's a great fit since he lets Andrew guard the lesser big man, while Morris nails the three on offense to give the Laker guards room to post-up or drive in.

Re: Trade Options
How about we go make the rest of REALGM's massive Laker-hater community cry? Trade Bynum to Minnesota for the #1, then take the huge TPE plus two future Laker 1sts and Nene tells Denver buh-bye I want to be the Lakers starting C or I'm going to sign with someone and you'll get nothing.
PG- Irving, Blake
SG- Bryant, MLE
SF- Artest, Barnes
PF- Gasol, Odom
C- Nene

Have you guys gone on the Wizards board and asked about that trade? It seems like a lot to give us? Kemba and Blatche for Bynum? Granted they get to unload Rashard but Kemba seems like a prospect they'd be high on.

Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
Buss always has loved the idea of a top flight PG and a top flight C. I expect that to be his target.
Cleveland fans were trying to entice a deal with I think it was Session to the Lakers and Varejao for Bynum and our crap. Would they be willing to make the real deal if they get the #1 and trade for Bynum straight up with nobody else in the deal. Then they can trade Varejao for a PF and perhaps still add Igoudala.

Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
Would anyone object to this:
LA sends out Bynum and Pau
Phili sends out Iguodala and Williams
Milwaukee sends out Bogut and Jennings
Lakers receive Jennings, Iguodala, and Bogut
Phili receive Pau
Milwaukee receive Bynum and Williams
Jennings
Kobe
Iggy
Odom
Bogut
Fisher moves to the backup PG
Brown opts out and Ebanks gets his time
Barnes stays like he said he would and gets healthy
Artest moves to backup PF where he can use his size and strength and have the ball more
Caracter develops into a Baby type who can give you 10 minutes at the backup C
Amnesty clause Blake's sorry ass like Brian Grant hopefully

I don't think that is a very fair trade for Milwaukee.

I don't know if Phili has any picks, if they did I would have suggested moving one of them or using some of our 4 seconds.
And to be fair, I'd do the 3 way deal if I could get Williams back as well. I put Jennings because I know he and Skiles bumped heads this past season

What do you guys think about Johnny Flynn? He is young, plays good defense and can score. While it didn't look like he was comfortable with the triangle in Minnesota he didn't have the talent around him that we do. With Ricky Rubio coming soon he looks to be gone. If we don't run the triangle he would still be a good choice and would give us a PG long term. I think our moves this offseason will depend on the coach we have. Another player that I would like to see us get is Aaron Brooks. He is a quick PG, who can shoot and score well.

Flynn? Meh... reminds me of Telfair.
Brooks? Now that Dragic's gone he's the future of PHX.

Jetset wrote:Glad to see everyone is on the same boat with the Washington trade, but the Howard thing is a different story. I don't see Howard getting traded this year, let alone before the draft. Everyone knows that there is no offseason this year because of the lockout, so no trade can be done then. It will be at the February trade deadline when Howard finally gets traded after the Magic F.O. tries to make LAL & NJ sweat it out.
If you really feel this way than why are you in favor of the Gasol to Wiz trade as you're saying that can't happen as it's a pre-draft trade ... if we can't trade Gasol pre-draft we might be screwed.
Asking for the 4th overall pick and 18th is too much and they'd much rather settle for parting with the lotto pick because there are prospects that they can actually use around that 18th pick.
I agree but one can hope ...
A lot of trades I see involve Bynum+picks, well I'm sure it will have to involve more than that. Which is why I hope we deal Gasol/Ebanks to the Wizards for Blatche/Lewis/4th overall pick.
If they aren't including the #18 they better be taking Blake AND Walton too.
Then at the trade deadline trade Bynum/Blatche/filler/picks for Howard. You've got to admit that looks more enticing than Bynum/picks
They're going to want Kemba or Knight, not Blatche ...
and way more enticing than the NJ offer of Lopez/picks.
NJ's only hope is to sign D12 outright, they have nothing to trade for him.
Orlando wants cap relief, picks and young talent, the deal I just proposed gives them that. Trading the PG we'd draft is silly and defeats the best part of the Washington deal, we'd finally have a stud PG.
The only way Orlando gets any real cap relief is if we take Gil or Hedo which I don't want ... if we aren't taking them they are gonna want Kemba/Knight, not Blatche ... we'd still be getting D12/Blatche/Shard for Bynum and Pau ... not bad.
You're not going to cheat Orlando for the value of their franchise player and best C in the league. If Mitch went to the phone and offered just Bynum/picks to Orlando, the half (Please Use More Appropriate Word) Otis Smith would almost suffocate from laughter.
Otis may lose dwight for nothing if he doesn't wise up ...

Why for LAL-Get considerably younger at the PF spot, a Horford-Bynum duo in the frontcourt would be pretty darn good. Gomes is more or less filler, absorbed with the Lakers TPE
Why for LAC-Would have to retain DeAndre Jordan obviously in this scenario but they revamp their SF spot, getting much needed wing depth. Would field one of the most athletic frontcourts in the NBA with Iggy, Griffin, and Jordan. Zaza fills in the backup C role. They get a $4m TPE for Gomes as well.
Why for ATL-They go into win-now mode, swapping Gasol for Horford while ridding themselves of Marvin Williams's contract.
Why for PHI-Reuniting the duo of Kaman and Brand, Williams and Aminu may not be able to replace Iggy's value but add depth and are still young.
Thoughts?

The only workable and fair Orlando, Lakers trade is Bynum, Odom, and Blake going to Orlando for Dwight, Nelson, and Bass. This trade works financially according to the current CBA. after that big trade i dont see the Lakers doing anything major. I think they should trade into the the drafts 1st round and getting Nolan Smith. Signing Jeff Foster for backup C and somehow get rid of Walton. THis plan is also hoping that both Shannon and Barnes don't opt out.
2011 2012 roster
Pg. Jameer, Fisher,Nolan
SG. Kobe, Shannon
Sf. Artest, Barnes, Ebanks
Pf. Pau, Bass, Caracter
C. Dwight, Foster.

Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
How about this?
Pau Gasol for Ibaka/Harden
TPE for Nate Robinson
TPE is needed for OKC to get enough under salary cap to absorb Paus contract. Did quick number crunching, another small contract like Ivey might have to be included to make numbers work. This is if current CBA is still in place.
Lakers get 3 young athelets and make a great defensive tandem in Bynum/Ibaka.
Why for OKC? They get a low post option they need in Gasol. With Westbrook most likely getting a max contract, I also see them having to trade they young pieces for an impact player instead of having to overpay them in free agency (Perkins/Green deal).

I Wizards fan was the one who came on our board and proposed it. Him along with the rest of the Wizards fans seemed to like it. The reason the 4th pick is brought up is because they really don't have a need for it. All the talent that's going to be available in the lotto this season are for positions that the Wizards already have filled out. PG/PF/C. If Harrison Barnes or another wing lotto player had stayed in the draft I'd see that lotto pick being off limits. Kemba Walker is a PG, John Wall is a PG. Wall > Kemba that's why the pick becomes trade incentive.

Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
The Lakers have a big problem. Making a big trade midseason in 2012 will almost make it a certainty they wont win in 2012 (midseason trades in NBA for big players rarely pan out right away.. Rasheed Wallace is the best example of one that worked... but he added to the same core.. the Pistons didnt trade key players to get him). So that means, Kobe will be 34 in 2012-13 with his new roster if something significant isnt done this summer. 34 is old in NBA standards so age will be an issue
If the Lakers want more titles with Kobe, their best chance may be to trade 2 of Odom, Pau, and Bynum this summer.. If they can get Howard, that would be great BUT they may have to take back Hedo or Arenas. (some will say if Howard demands a trade, Orlando has to deal him. This is true.. BUT Orlando would have no incentive to trade Howard this summer versus February. So if they lakers want him, they have to get him. If I'm Orlando, why trade for Bynum over the summer. What if he gets hurt again between summer and February? So to take Bynum who has an injury history, they need a reason to trade for him.
