The reason to avoid the Heat as long as possible is the hope that some other team flukes into eliminating them somehow, or injuring Lebron.

Thats really what it was about. Kidd isnt even smart enough to know the seedings and all that. He needed to rest his guys and he also didnt care much about matchups. It was a bonus. Dont take it personally it wasnt about Toronto.

Toronto GM losing his mind mightve been about his dealings with Billy King in the Carmelo drama. Wherein Kings nets leaked all sorts of things and probably tampered and tried to pressure Denver into a deal.

In speaking with people within the organization, it sounds as though the majority would rather avoid Chicago and face Toronto.

I dont take it personal. It was the smart thing to do but I just think the Nets screwed themselves over and screwed us over in the process.

Very interesting about the Billy King situation with the Melo deal. Didn't know that. A lot of hate between both sides, a lot of history as well.

Howd the Nets screw over Toronto?

Wanting to face Toronto and knowing how to even do it are two different things. There was actually uncertainty among all the seeds. It was about rest.

Why do you guys want it to be that the Nets hate or disrespect you? Theres a thread on here literally titled "Meh, inexperience"

yeah, i i mean the 3,4,5,6 seeds came down to the last day of the season. there was no certainty who we'd play. it was about rest, and if it was about opponents it was less about playing you and more about avoiding chicago in my opinion

Nets had nothing to lose by resting players. It looked like they could get Toronto and even if they didnt like I said they had nothing to lose.

It was the smart thing to do but the Nets are still pussies for wanting to avoid a team even though they have star power & the most expensive roster in NBA history.

Guess who made the Meh, Inexperience thread? Me. It's not about the Nets disrespecting us. Thats the perception of it for the fans and media.

Also as far as history and hate, I mean that in general dating back from 07. VC trade, the regular season series this year was competitive, Masai & Billy King relationship, Ross & Blatche, media wars etc. I just mean that in a general context.

Also, how is the ECF "high reward"? is losing to miami in the ECf really any better then losing to them in round 2? I can understand if we were like the pacers last year, a younger team that will be together a while and can build on that. but we are really in win now or bust mode.... there is no consolation. and since we arent winning it all, id rather at least not go 1 and done. when we would face miami should we move on is irrelevant to me

Like I said your rational. You realize a 2nd round exit vs ECF exit to the Heat makes no difference. The media, fans, front office etc. on the other hand would rather have a ECF. Kidd would look better so would the FO.

It does make a difference. Giving Lebron more games to get hurt before you have to play him, or Wade, or Bosh, or whatever, does help your chances of winning a title.

Well in this theory the Nets backed themselves into the Heats Bracket. 2-time defending champs. Factor that in and their performance in game 1 I think the Nets do not actually come across as pussies at all, do you?. I think theyre like super **** old and are just so ready. I wouldnt be shocked to see them come out and talk trash to the Heat like Toronto keeps doing.

As much as I hate Fields as a basketball player (he flat out sucks offensively), I do agree he's our only shot at guarding Pierce effectively.

Who woulda thought Landry Fields would possibly be the savior.

odds of losing to the bulls are MUCH higher then lebron getting injured playing 4-7 more games imo.

we arent winning a championship. and with that in mind id rather not be 1 and done. that sucked last year, having it hapen again this year to the same team would suck even more

Fields should actually get consistent minutes off the bench in this series, and not just a couple of minutes to see if the experiment works out. It's a decent matchup for him and he could be useful at 3 different positions, unlike some of the stiffs playing right now.

What chances? Slim and none? other then the heat there is no team id rather face less then the bulls. we were not going to beat them. and ill take losing in round 2 vs. miami over losing to the bulls in round 1 in a beatdown

The key is game 4. I think we'll win game 2 and lose game 3. The question is can we steal a game on the road? If we can this goes to 7 games and I dont know if you guys can beat us in game 7 at the ACC.

i honestly dont think the nets arent winning another road game in the playoffs this year, if we want to win, we have to win games 3,4, and 6. then again i didnt think we would win ONE road game at all, and i was wrong on that

factually incorrect. look back in the game threads. i was right most of the time. the thing is the times i were right everyone was too busy bashing blatche, anderson, kidd, dwill, or whomever the goat was that day. and when i was wrong it was a chest beating "were gonna beat miami" love fest of i told you so's

and unlike the homers on our board, i can admit when i was wrong about things (i.e. plumlee, kidd). yet when im right, it gets over looked (lopez, us finsihing worse then last year, dwill).

its easy to bash someones opinions when you dont have any of your own

As weird as this sounds, DD is the best guy to guard Joe Johnson. One of the few things he did ok last game was defend him. I hope he just focuses on defending Joe, make effective passes out of traps, and run the floor to get easy buckets.

I'm very confident he has a bounce back game, but no necessarily scoring 25 on solid efficiency. I'm thinking 18 pts, 5/10 FG, 8/10 FT's, 7 RB's, 7 Ass. That would be huge.

Someone needs to create some Landry Fields Redemption sigs. We can all sport them, until he takes his first jumper.
