I know this is a late comment on what you wrote, but your sentiment is such a noble one, I feel compelled to volunteer my services, too!

Doesn't it? Aren't money & term the main arguments against pursuing Kemba? Or are you suggesting that 1 game in which Mudiay was unconsciously hot, suddenly make Kemba a defensive liability? Or is it that you think the PGs who are better than Kemba...Steph, Dame, Harden, Russ, Kyrie...are lockdown defenders?

Conley & Lowry are the only PGs who are close to Kemba's level and who actually excel defensively...and they are both 3 or 4 years older than Kemba. Literally, everyone else in that tier or above is (like Kemba) just not a massive liability. This is why Frank-fans find his long-term potential so intriguing if he gets to learn from an Allstar PG (like Kemba) for the next few years.

If we can get Ja Morant I'm not concerned with Kemba.

Why? Because of the long list of rookie PGs that were finished products who were ready to run a playoff team?

Morant is certainly an exciting prospect, but why do I get the feeling that if we actually got him without someone to mentor our young PGs, there would be people bitching about him "not having it" on here a year from now?

Because I would rather go with someone who look likes a true creative playmaker and alpha scorer at the PG position (something we haven't had in decades)on a rook e contract over someone is very good but not quite good, young , and cheap enough to make sense for us. And I like Kemba, and could live with him...but I dont think he is the optimal solution. This Ja kid is looking nice and if he pans out for us the possibilities are almost endless.

I know some hate to hear it, but this group plays for the coach. they aren't the most talented by any stretch, but has given their all moreso than not.

That's on the coach, and Fiz is a good one. Glad he's here.

My point was moreso that neither Ja nor even Cole Anthony I’d he had reclassified for this draft, would pan out for us if we don’t give them time to learn & develop before we heap keeping KP happy with the Knicks onto his shoulders.

That’s why a big part of Kemba’s appeal would his ability to teach & shepherd Frank or some other young PG’s development to set us up well for the future; as well as helping KP & the more currently ready youth become a good team in the short run...which IMO helps young talent develop more than being on a mess of a team...even if in the final season of his deal Kemba became an overpaid 6th man.

Thus why i’d really only be thrilled with a Kemba deal if we got a team option on the final season or he agreed to a deal that started at the max & then dropped each season, so that even if he slowed down by year 3 or 4, he’d be a trade asset at his salary. Though I dunno how realistic that is, which is why I’m not overly gung ho about signing him if we do strike out on KD & Kawhi.

Why would this matter? We can't give him the supermax, only Charlotte can.

Doesn't really change his argument though. And the answer is people better start liking Frank cuz you gotta put a defensive stud next to defense that poor to compensate. Hopefully by then Frank can give you 10points consistently.

Yeah, I don't think I got the whole argument based on this response. My bad, jumped in late. But I wouldn't be surprised if that's who we ended up getting. Not my favorite but I'd understand if it happened and probably wouldn't bash Perry if he did it. Hes got no choice.

We'll see what Mudiay can do with a larger sample size. I wouldn't write his development off either but you got KP coming back, a crew of young players who don't know ****. A veteran PG wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. I just rather it be Kyrie.
