Mets are apparently still going after Stearns, but for after next season when his contract expires.

If he really only has one year left on his contract, I'd probably trade him to the Mets. But there's some who think there's a vesting option in Stearns's deal that actually ties him to Milwaukee through 2023.

Either way, I don't want a lame-duck GM.

Lame duck Stearns would be terrible. I know he's not the actual GM but no doubt he signs off on everything. Maybe Arnold turned down the Mets POBO because he's been promised the job here if Stearns bails?

Feels like Stearns and the Mets are inevitable. That sucks.

Stearns leaving was always inevitable for me. He's going to look towards a big market gig.

I just don't know if he wants to have to deal with Steve Cohen breathing down his neck.

Heard the fan talking about one guy is like your really experienced coach and the other guy like a young hot shot analytics guy or something like that. I like the idea.

Kind of an interesting one. Reifert was pretty dominant in A-ball, and Brosseau was good in '19 and '20 for the Rays. His BABIP both years were comically high and he came crashing back to earth last year. But you figure the new Brewers hitting coach from TB knows him well.

Brousseau was a short-side of the platoon guy for TB if I recall.

Like, he's a borderline All Star against lefties and a AAA hitter against RHP.

So all this does for me, is, assuming Brousseau is going to be in the majors for the most part, is tell me that we're maybe getting another lefty bat somewhere on the infield or Urias is being shopped or something.

There’s no way they’re shopping Urias.

Probably not...Brousseau may be a AAAA guy in the organization, I don't know. I'm assuming they're just adding depth as the Brewers tend to add it through random dumpster diving vs. building their own depth via the farm.

But if he really is in the plans for the majors right away, they now have 2 RH 3B/2B type of guys which would be strange. Urias can play every day but I'm wondering when the lefty will be acquired, ya know?

Happy trails to the Pineapple. Seemed like a great teammate leader so he'll be missed but I get why they wouldn't pay that for a platoon catcher. Good for him getting that money.

Good stuff. Strange race too, but if you can give it to closers, you sure as hell better be able to give it to starters with low inning counts like Burnes.

I love how they had a Dodger announce the award (Orel), they lead-in talking about how important it is to finish the season strong, and Max finished last. I'm not sure if it was trolling or if the producers were just oblivious.
