That would save them 36m this season. If the gave away THT, that's 46m.

They could just keep Westbrook but I think Kyrie is still way better.

So you're saving $36 million this season, but you want to pay Westbrook around $9.5 million in dead money for the next 5 years?

Maybe it’s me but I don’t really get the original math.

Stretch 1 year of Russ and it’s $16m over 3 years

Trade THT for nothing

That gets rid of about $42m in salaries. With holds they’d still be over $100m (LBJ+AD+stretch Russ = $98m alone).

If the cap is $122, how can they offer Kyrie any more than like $18m? (and that number is probably high given they’d need to add 8 guys to fill their roster).

[Stein] There is increasing credence being applied to the idea that Irving is legitimately prepared to accept a pay cut next season of roughly $30 mil to reunite with LeBron and join the Lakers

Here we go again. Lakers wondering why the Nets are not taking Westbrook and THT.

Why not!?

If the Nets really let KD and Kyrie go, they will look like utter morons.

I would rather go down with the sinking ship then be a trash team with no draft picks for the forseeable future.

They have made a crucial error. The fanbase will revolt. It will go back to the old days where the only purpose of Barclays is for people in NYC to come cheer for opposing teams.

So instead of getting rid of Kyrie, they got rid of Harden. Now Kyrie is leaving?

Durant was closer with Kyrie than Harden. I seem to remember the reports at the time were he took Kyrie's side over Harden's and thats why he was fine to see that trade go through.

Harden is terrible. There was no mistake in trading him.

Letting Kyrie go is the issue. He should have been given a max.

Kyrie is probably the only big name player in the NBA I've ever seen where I could legitimately see him turning down 30mil and sign with a team for the MLE for one year.

Only a matter of time before we see Kyrie posting a tik tok from his bed where he's eating vaseline.

When you are unreliable and don't show up to work, you won't get paid big dollars. Marks, I am sure, is targeting 2024 FA and other ways to make this team competitive. I am OK if both KD/Kyrie are gone since they have not accomplished anything here in Brooklyn and they act so casual about it.

He'll never need to, imo. If the Nets actually think he's serious about it, they'll trade for WB and picks and try to flip them+their own picks for some decent players. Everyone talks about the irrationality of Kyrie, but the Nets would be irrational to let him walk for nothing. Theyre really gonna play a game of chicken with Kyrie? lmaooooo

Simmons is a great, multi-tooled, unselfish running mate, and Curry/Harris are great role players.

If Brooklyn were to acquire a long 3&D swingman (ie. Oubre or Reddish), they can be very, very good.

KD looked over at the bench during the playoffs and saw Simmons sitting there in his Coachella gear and said "Hell Nah!"

They have no picks for the foreseeable future. Surely KD/Kyrie/Simmons and company is worth giving a shot at least. They have no marquee prospects right now either.

I guess maybe Marks is banking on getting a lot of picks in return for trading Kyrie and KD. Also the hell does Kyrie get so offended that the media talks about him? That's literally their job. The media plays a huge role in the NBA's popularity.

Even with all of Kyrie's problems, there should be teams other than just the Lakers interested in acquiring him, teams who have nothing going on and who absolutely should be taking risks. Sacramento, Orlando, Indiana come to mind. There may not be moves to be made there, but they should at least be interested.

Would be hilarious to see him back in GSW.

That said, I'm pretty curious to see the next power-struggle between KD and the Nets over a trade. I know Woj says "he has no say where he plays"... I'll believe that when I see it. I think KD will do everything in his power to dictate the team he goes to by threatening to not play for a team or something, but I can also see the Nets be so fed up with being pushed around, that they would just try and trade him anywhere they get the best deal from and screw any demands from KD's side.
