I think the talent is fine, but the wrong mix.
This team doesn't have any elite iso player but only one screener in Bam who you also depend on scoring. This team needs atleast 2 high level screener on the court all the time. Warriors offense would be crap without screeners.

Price on Kyrie is lowering by the day.
As abysmal as Lowry is, he and a conditional pick might be enough to get it done. That’ll bolster the offense.
Then trade Duncan and pick(s) for Olynyk and Vanderbilt for size and defense

In all my years of watching Spo, ive never seen him throw a player under the bus like with what he did with Herro. Spo usually protects his players with an unusual amount of verbal diplomacy. I wonder what is going on behind the scenes??

Why? Herro only reason we were in this game. If it was last 2 games I'd understand not this one. There were other who were worse. Admittedly I only saw most of the 2nd half but Herro was good. I'm pro Spo but this is unfairly throwing a player under the bus when he's having a poor coaching series himself and the FO messed up in the summer. The biggest issue is defense because we are just too small on the wings to play good defense when we switch.
He had a great scoring half in the 2nd half, he was a huge reason we were down to begin with tho. Murray was just picking on him, they were singling him out. Unfortunately the defense is still horrible
He wasn't the only one. From what I saw in the 2nd half, everyone was crap on defense. When the other team is shooting 55 % from the field its just not one guy. And to give the players credit I can see they are trying. They are switching and closing out. This switching defense with these personnel is just not working.

Spo went hard at Herro postgame. This was a critique that seemed unfair, desperate and on a Hassan Whiteside level of frustration.

This has not been a good start for Spoelstra in my opinion. The inexcusable late Jimmy sub in the 2nd Raptors game, and thinking he could survive Bam-less minutes in the 4th quarter last night. Those are pretty clearly mismanagement situations. But Spo always figures it out one way or another, so I’m not trippin.

I agree, Spo usually figures it out but I haven't seen him this frustrated in a while. Get the popcorn ready.

That' the issue. I'll accept the talent is "fine".
But what does fine give you? there's about 6 teams with great talent. So fine should give you a second round exit unless you overarching big time.
The issue this season, is that we're underachieving with mediocre talent, when last season we overachieved.
We could overcome if our mediocre talent level really meshed well together, but having no real elite scorer on the team and being undersized across the board won't allow us to optimize what talent we do have.

If Haslem is getting minutes, the talent is not fine

jeje... spo or anybody else is prone to do anything in life so who knows... but I don't think it's going to happen ... he has incredible moments as a coach, spo just being too efing slow at figuring a small ball out, possibly he is playing out a psychological issue from when he was a player in Portland... taking too long thoughShulaDon92 wrote:If Brady and Giselle can divorce anything can happen. We have three 7 footers on the roster. Isnt Butler an elite scorer? Herro has elite skill for sure.

His son had cancer, maybe Spo is having a tough time. Also, having covid means lowered cognitive performance. The whole world is going through it.

Ill say this statement as a fan:
We have been blessed to see two generational basketball coaches at the helm, back to back.
Everything is just gravy at this point lol

We have three 7 footers on the roster.
Really? We have Dedmon who is realistically a vet minimum player, and looks washed.
Then we have unproven and injured Omer
Jovic who looks 6'11 and can't get any minutes from Spo
And Bam who is like 6'9.
Isnt Butler an elite scorer?
Sadly, he isn't. Jimmy is an elite overall player that can at times up his scoring when needed, but scoring doesn't come easy for him, he needs to labor for each point. he career average (only counting seasons after he establish himself) is 20 PPG. That's not elite scoring in 2022.
Herro has elite skill for sure
Herro has great knack for scoring and high skill level - the issues are A) he's only 22 and still looks years away from his prime and B) he lacks the great physical tools that makes life easier for elite consistent scorers.

Theres always a role for elite offensive skill. Help him with his weaknesses with creative lineups. Age is irrelevant.
