Mazz: Don’t look now but the Celtics are losing ground

https://985thesportshub.com/listicle/mazz-dont-look-now-but-the-celtics-are-losing-ground/

Jakob Poetl

Feels like a big drop in talent from the above two, right? But it impacts the Celtics significantly. Poetl had been linked to the Celtics for some time, but he was traded last night to the Toronto Raptors. Still, this isn’t about Toronto as much as it is about Boston. Poetl is regarded as a solid defender and a big body who would have given the Celtics some depth behind Robert Williams as well as someone who can at least help body up people like Giannis Antetokounmpo. One longtime NBA evaluator thought Poetl “would help the Celtics.” Whether he helps Toronto is largely irrelevant.

Mo Bamba

This bears mentioning because as recently as yesterday, Bamba and Poetl were mentioned in the same breath as potential Celtics targets. But here’s what two longtime NBA talent evaluators texted yesterday about Bamba: The first? “Sucks.” The second? “Not a fan.” The point is that Poetl may have been the Celtics’ best option to find a backup big man. Now that is gone.

I wouldn't mind more quality big man depth but give Luke Kornet his props. Luke has been excellent.

I wouldn't be shocked if they figured some way to trade Justin Jackson for someone who fits into the Bol Bol exception and then reroute that player to a team with Gallo and PP so they could take back another player that might slightly fit outside of the main exception they have left.

Kornet has done well.
Still feel more comfortable with some in front of him, on the Depth Chart.

Bad post here.

Kelly is good now

Kelly is fine, but he's not a playoff player. He would be targeted defensively.

Still can't believe Lakers got Vanderbilt. He was perfect for C's. Cheap, young, good switchable defender, good fit with Grant or Al on offense - he would basically play as a big with Grant/Al stretching the floor.

Look Olynyk is a solid bench player but what does he do that Grant hasn't already got covered?

Honestly what scrub out there is any better than Kornet?

I don't think Naz is an improvement over Kornet.

On a serious note, Hyland has to get moved. My guess is Minny.

Bones for Naz Reid makes sense.

I'm way too late to the party to read all the comments lol. Anything important going on?

I noticed Suns fans are very negative about the KD trade which is somewhat surprising to me but also not haha.

He'd be essentially filling the role that we got Gallo to play..

Olynyk a less dynamic scorer/play maker but probably a little better defensively..and well, KO is healthy..

Yeah, something like that makes sense. Denver probably wants some draft picks. Irony is that Hyland is a lot like Dlo. Not really a pg, doesn't defend but can light you up on a giving night.
