Morant reminds me of one of those Riley reclamation products coming off injury, under performing, or out of nowhere... Hardaway, Mason, Starks, and even Zo. Even Shaq and Butler came here because of a dispute with the Lakers.
I don't see how it works with current Heat though unless it's something around Wiggins and Jovic.
Powell is legit, but he's 32. I don't see them giving up Herro for Morant. And how would a Herro and Morant backcourt look?

If you're referring to me I have never called or made out any of those current guys to be a star. Even if some fans are optimistic about our current players they can also decide certain "stars" in the league they don't like or are fans of. By your logic if Rudy Gobert is available all of our fans should clamor and rush to want him?
In Ja Morants case let's ignore the stupid suspensions he's caused himself. The fact he publicly basically called out his coaches. Let's also ignore the fact the offense we're currently running he was basically the reason their coach got fired for it because he didn't like it. Its also funny to me the same way yall bash Herro for not showing up in the playoffs Morant basically has done the same outside of 1 series. Let's also ignore the fact Morant misses games whether it's due to injury or suspension. Yes. Lets be delusional.
I wasn't speaking to anyone specifically, it's just a general theme I've seen.
No issue if people don't like certain players or don't think they fit or aren't worth whatever Miami might potentially trade to acquire them...etc. In the case of trading Herro for Morant, which is what I "proposed", Morant is a superior player in every way despite all his faults. I'd rather take a 2-year chance on Morant than give Herro 4 or 5 years at ~$40+M/year. But the "delusion", imo, is Memphis would accept a straight up Herro for Morant swap, which is why I said my "proposal" was largely in jest.
That said, there are star talents that are toxic, and Morant may be one. That is something only the FO can evaluate because they have access to inside information. I think we've seen enough teams take chances on really talented guys and it's blown up in their faces and set back franchises for years if not decades (see: Nets, 76ers, Phoenix, Toronto). In other cases, teams have ended up seeing their trade work out (see: Dallas with Irving or the Clippers with Harden) or they've managed to keep it from completely setting them back (see: Clippers with Paul George).
The larger point here is what you pay/trade for players matters. Morant may go on sale and Miami should do its due diligence if that occurs, and I don't doubt they will.
And Rudy Gobert never was and never will be a star in the NBA. He's an overrated role player, much like Draymond Green, Derrick White, or Jrue Holiday.

Morant and Herro backcourt would be great. You'd think they'd complement each other pretty well, if Morant can lift his defensive intensity. Offensively he makes up for Herro's lack of athleticism and vert and takes some on ball responsibilities away, whereas Herro has the spacing and secondary playmaker ability to be great in that role.
Spacing wouldn't be ideal, but if Bam can shoot it the way he is, it becomes much less of an issue.
I'd probably want to deal Wiggins, Davion and a pick or two. Whether this is palatable really depends on the other offers Memphis gets for a depressed asset.
Morant / Smith / Jakucionis
Herro / Powell
Larsson / Jaquez
Adebayo / Jovic

This new offense is looking pretty damn good (10th in the league not too far off of 5th) and half of these games have been without Powell. We badly need a legit PG though, get Davion moved to the 2nd unit where he’ll fit best as a spark plug guy. Davion hasn’t done a terrible job he’s just not the level of playmaker we need with the starters, if it’s not a blow by and kick out he’s not doing much playmaking, you can see the massive difference there last night between Reaves and obviously Luka.

10th best offense, 3rd best defense, 5th best net rating despite a couple recent losses. We still have the fastest pace and are starting to gain some separation there. Not bad and the Calvary is coming.

Spo needs to figure out something with Niko and Ware. Two unique skill sets but they're not giving us much. It also feels like Ware has taken a step back from last season. Also how does he look so off from preseason. I know preseason the intensity isn't as high as the real season but he was still playing against starters.

Based on the video I saw from Powell and Bam breaking down the offense I'm under the impression they don't want or feel the need for a PG to run this offense since its such constant movement.

I fear they think that as well but if you look at all the champions from the last decade they all had an all star level PG or LeBron. They’re just necessary to organize the offense, especially when the game slows down in the playoffs or in the clutch. Also in the halfcourt when we don’t get something on the break. They simply will make better reads than the majority and will find our guys in good matchups throughout the game we can exploit.

With Niko I’m not sure what’s going on, he should be thriving in this offense, but with Ware it kind of ties in to the PG stuff and also the fact that in this new offense we’re basically parking our bigs in the corners and their catch and shoot guys. There’s little to no pick and roll which doesn’t do him and Bam and favors.

Zero chance we end up with Ja. He's such a poor fit with the new offense.
The vibes good but Ware and Jovic both look just disheartened after any mistake. Look over at Spo and it's their heads are completely outta the game after he hits them with his Rage face.

Morant and Herro backcourt would be great. You'd think they'd complement each other pretty well
Last year Herro probably lost 1/4th of his assists due to truly shoddy shooting. I could be really wrong on that, I don't know the numbers...but possession after possession he found the open guy...only to watch the ball clank around the basket.
You drop Herro onto a team Powell, Morant, and this version of Bam and JJJ....one would have to think Herro would be more of a playmaker then last years version just due to the talent around him.
It has been a real long while since the Heat have had cast of reliable scorers like a team of Herro, Morant, Powell, and this year's version of Bam and JJJ.
When you think of the new offense taking turns cutting on rotation then put in a dude like Morant....yeahhhh I am sure they could make Herro and Morant work....

Unfortunately I don’t think we can trade Terrys salary right now due to the legal stuff. It’s prohibited to being used in a trade so just another way this whole thing is screwing us over
