Another league source said Knicks officials were perturbed to hear that Anthony was being told they were "dragging their heels" in their efforts to acquire Anthony. (Which could lend some sort of an explanation to the origins behind the latter part of this quote from Anthony after practice Monday in Denver): "Who wouldn't want to play in New York?" Anthony said. "I told you that last year. I think that's how all this stuff started, by me making that comment. New York is playing well right now. I don't think they're looking at me, they don't want me to come in here and mess what they have up. That's what I've read."

To add to this, if the Nuggets are getting in Melo's head about this, or about that B.S. about Amare not wanting him there, do they think this is going to change Melo's mind and get him excited about going to Newark?

If Sheridan is right:

Leon Rose is trying to bring a done deal to Melo and hope he signs off.

LaLa and Melo are thinking Knicks only but Leon is hoping to get them to cave and thinks he can. And Melo won't rein him in -- letting him and the Nuggets do their thing and then will make up his mind.

Seems like the simplest, best explanation IF Sheridan is right.

If that's the case then (if you're Melo) don't you threaten to fire your agent? BT said it and I agree. The agent works for you. If the agent is coercing Melo to make a move he doesn't want to make then don't why wouldn't Melo give his agent an ultimatum? I just can't see the guy being so easily manipulated as to allow his agent to make him do something like this. But then again I don't know what Leon Rose has against us and why he's dead set on bringing Melo to NJ.

Yeah Kennedy was way off about one rumor this summer and I mean way off. I forget what it was. He's a Hoopsworld staffer and they are never on the cusp of anything groundbreaking. They do present very good supplementary articles though.

More I think about it, the fact that lala is talking to pro-Knicks people who say turn down the trade is really pretty telling, perhaps. If she knew Melo was about to go to the Nets, she'd be avoiding these people like the plague, wouldn't she?

Yea plus lalas not stupid.. shes from NY, she worked here for years at hot97 & mtv, she knows what it is.. and how they both can be affected by the decision.. if they go to the nets then nobody will care.. if he's a knick then he'll have broader exposer as well as her.. Alot more people will know who she is besides the people that know her now or before all this trade talk.

Tony and Greg, the biggest mystery to me in all of this is why Leon Rose is trying so hard to get Melo to the Nets when Melo wants to go to the Knicks. It makes ZERO sense if you look at it from the perspective that an agent should be doing what his client wishes him to do.

I don't believe any of these guys except Stephen A. He's the only one that's shown to have reliable sources and doesn't appear to be biased in favor of, or against, the Knicks.

Apparently so. I mentioned this when it first came out. Things have gotten so contentious and desperate that people (be it Phrokorov, Ujiri or Rose) are now relying to spewing obvious lies (that NY isn't interested) to try to get Melo to do what they want. If I was Melo I would tell all 3 parties to go F off and that he's not extending with anybody. Then go out and play my ass off for the rest of the season for the Nugget fans (who, unlike their idiotic and deceiptful management) has done nothing wrong and at least deserves me to go out and do my best to provide them one last great run.

yes he did. He said Joe was the lock Robin to lure Lebron..at least that's what his sources were telling him. He's also the one who said WU must have heard through back channels Lebron was coming here and hence him pulling off the Rockets/T-Mac trade
