Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
sounds like the trick with brooks will be getting him to understand good shots from bad shoots. the talent is there, but will he get the mental part of the game that translates in to winning games and playing good team ball.
at 19 he is definitely worth the risk. but is he worth it at 9? thats the real question.

(DocRI's idea on Pistons board)
Also going by what Silas said, would you trade #9, Diop and filler (Carroll or Najera) for Ben Gordon ?

i honestly think gordon would be a great fit on this team. we desperately need shooters, scoring, and guys who can make clutch baskets. he would compliment hendo perfectly. i would love to get rid of diop as well.
HOWEVER, there is no way to ever justify playing gordon 11.6, 12.4 and 13.2 over the next 3 years. its just way too much.

Makes me wonder if the FO is not really looking for a Big at #9 or a PG, and then going with the best 3 pt threat at #19. With Brooks and Hamilton possibly on the table at #19? IDK, but it just seems that based on what he said, Burks is not exactly what he wants at #9.
Going by what Silas said I imagine that we are looking hard at Klay, Brooks, Singleton, Hamilton, and Fredette in the first round. I predict that Charlotte will pick Brooks at nine. Who ever is on the board between Chris, Jordan, and Fredette at 19. I think at 39 we will take Nolan Smith. I predict that he will fall that far.

No way in hell do I want Nolan Smith. He doesn't fit our team at all!!
I'm a Charlotte Bobcats, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Braves and North Carolina Tar Heels fan!

As I posted in the workouts thread, Silas said Bobcats would pick Kemba only if he would fall to 9th pick. So those who want us to trade up and snatch Kemba - don't hold your breath. Smokescreen possible of course (at the same time Silas is probably genuine as he was with Crash trade).

Is everyone as sick as I am about seeing mocks with us taking Morris or Biyombo at 9? We don't need a 4! Has Biyombo been measured yet? is he tall enough to play center? I don't think so but I may wrong.
Also noticed Hamilton moving up in several mocks into the lottery. Uh oh!

I dont know anyone who thinks we should trade up for Kemba. I advocate taking him if he is there at #9, because I think he would be the BPA at that time. The only ones I consider trading up for are Irving, Williams and Kanter. If #9 and a player get that done, I'd be for it. Otherwise I stick with #9, #19 and #39. Now I do advocate taking the last 2 picks and trying to move back up towards the end of the lottery IF the right player is there and we are afraid they wont make it to us at #19.

God I hope not, Klay looks like a very poor man's Kevin Martin or Trajan Langdon with slightly better athleticism. DO NOT WANT (him or Burks)

No (just mocks and I would love to get Biyombo at 9 - he is our consensus 4th BPA after all). Agreed. Yes. Yes, reach is almost as Howard's. No opinion.
Indifferent. As well.

I don't know where (here, bcp, facebook, discussion under some article) but I have seen someone suggesting something like that.

With the talk that Portland may be eyeing Kemba, and with them having #21, will be hard for them to get up in range to get him. Would you consider this option, and would Portland.
If Kemba is on the table at #9, we draft him for Portland, who then trades us Batum and #21 for Kemba. Batum is losing PT to Crash, so just wondering if you think Batum is valuable enough to take and fall back to #21. Not advocating it, just wondering what others think.

I seriously doubt that the Trailblazers would do that deal. Having said that, if they would, then I would take it in a second. IMO Batum would be the 3rd overall pick if he were in this draft. Batum coudl come in here immediately and provide a long term solution at the 3 and we would still have two later picks to play with (could package both to move up a little higher as well). However, seeing as how the blazers wouldn't give up Batum for crash, I find it hard to believe they would give him up for an unknown Kemba at #9. I also find it unlikely that Kemba will be there at 9, or if he is that MJ can manage to pass on him.

If we can grab Biyombo at #9 I say we pull the trigger as fast as we can. Bone scans showed that the guy was at MOST 17 years of age, that said he reminds me alot of Mutombo in that he is very scholarly (speaks 5 languages).
Also some stuff from Draft Express:

Also some stuff from Draft Express:
He works extremely hard to get deep position in the paint and will call for the ball aggressively once there. This makes him a magnet for fouls, considering how hard he makes opposing big men work to keep him off the block.
Once he catches the ball in the paint, Biyombo usually has one thing on his mind: dunk. He can take off from incredible distances (well outside the restricted area) and still finish plays because of his sheer length and explosiveness. He absolutely crushes the rim any opportunity he gets.
.
He stood out as the most vocal players on the International team over the course of the week at the Nike Hoop Summit, assuming a position of leadership almost immediately upon arrival. You would often see him having tactical discussions between plays with the coaching staff, and he was quick to take teammates aside and explain the nuances of a play to them when something got lost in translation
Crespo says he took Biyombo to a specialist to conduct a bone age study immediately upon his arrival in Spain (Biyombo was reportedly 16). The study, as explained here involves taking x-rays of an adolescent's wrist and hand to see if his growth plates are still open. Because the cartilage in Biyombo's hand hadn't fused at that point, the specialist came to the conclusion that he could be 16 or 17 at most, but not 18, when growth plates are expected to be closed.

1. Kevin Martin is one of the league's most efficient scoring guards. Despite averaging almost 24 per game he still still shoots 43% from the field, 38% from three, and 88% from the line. Even Kobe doesn't trump those numbers. He only has him by two % in fgpct.
2. Trajan Langdon is 6'3 in shoes. Klay is 6'5 3/4 in socks.
3. I did not say we were picking him. I said I imagine that we are looking closley at him.
4. We do not currently have anyone on this team who is good at creating their own shots aside from DJ and old man Jackson. Creating for himself and others is the strongest part of Burks' s game.

What? You think this championship ready team couldn't go for a few changes? We are talking about pick 39 here. Thirttttyyyy nine. If Nolan drops that far he will be by far the best player on the board. At this point his trade value alone makes him worth picking.

Nolan Smith at #39 is a quality pick. Good scorere with some 3 pt range, very quick, solid defender, and decent handles as a combo guard. At #39, you can be happy with someone who can come off the bench to give you 10 minutes/game of solid play. And he played 4 years under Coach K so I would think (hope) that he is solid in the fundamentals. He would be a good pick at #39.

Would love Nolan at 39. Would be a slam dunk pick. I see him going late 1st early 2nd. Would be surprised if he was on the board at 39.

I think Brooks gets a bad rap. The guy was the best player on a very young team. They had 7 freshman, 2 sophs, and 3 seniors. He had to carry them in order for them to have any chance of winning. You don't think this guy is gonna walk on an NBA team and starting chucking up 3's like he did in college?
