I like Brown as a coach in a lot of ways--he's great with the press, seems like he gets players to play hard, and his player-development vision is second-to-none.

If they hired Thibodeau at this point in the process I'd be behind it if and only if they actually listened to his input. Give Thibs these assets and coaching control and we'd be contenders in no time.

This is almost perfectly setting up a bigger move. Harris will sell the team to a group led by Jerry Colangelo.

Bryan will be the GM moving forward, D'Antoni will be the head coach eventually.

The team will improve (they cannot get worse) and perhaps eventually be competitive (playoff caliber). It unlikely that they will ever be championship-caliber, but in the NBA that level is unlikely for every franchise save for the fortunate few.

This team led by BC wont win a championship, and that was the goal.

Raptors fan here. Sorry to hear that you just traded in the league's most forward thinking GM for a used car salesman with zero patience. Wait until you hear the rhetoric that comes out of Bryan's mouth while speaking with the press. Sad day for Sixer fans.

If people want to know what direction to expect here, BC was in Toronto 7 years and only used 4 first round draft picks total during that time.

I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Yeah, this is the worst case scenario. The Sixers owners bailed on the franchise and I expect a sale in the next 2 years after the Colangelo's do a poor patch job.

I think with the way Hinkie left things it will be near impossible for BC not to build a decent team. The situation is just too perfect not too. But the ceiling just became much lower because BC never thinks more than one season ahead. Harrison Barnes for $25 million anyone?

bad timing.

Sam was never here during the year putting in SO much work being one of the only GMs flying overseas to scout players like Bender and such.

Now, unless he left his computer and ALL that vital information here, it's all gone. Basically it's going to be Bryan or whoever just using Bleacher Report's mock or some other "consensus fan mock draft" website as his big board...

Not discrediting the others sixer's scouts that are still here but i know Hinkie put a lot of work into that aspect of the FO.

plus he was legit a wiz in every trade... so theres that whole thing this summer. Not so much worried about the FA part which is the only acquisition tool i see maybe improving, but the other two are more reliable tools for me anyway.

Sad Day, guys. Sad day.

*sidenote ... how great of a plot would it be if for hinkie's next trick he tries to take the bucks out of mediocrity. first day on the job he trades MCW for a 2nd rounder.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the NBA forbid a team from hypothetically trading away its right to swap picks with another team? If so, that might be our one saving grace with BC now at the helm assuming the Kings are going to continue to be bad for the next few seasons.

So we went through 3 years of horrible basketball and tanking, to leave it all in the hands of Brian Colangelo.

AWESOME! Cant wait to be an 8th seed again in 2 years.

I guess the whole front office will be revamped. Hinkie's analytics and scientific approach will all be thrown away. Instead, we got Old Jerry trying to run the team with his wealth of "basketball experience & knowledge"

I personally don't want to be the Phoenix Suns of the east.
Secondly Mike D'Antoni as our coach is all but a guarantee and that would be the worst part about all of this. This is a tough minded, defensive gritty city. We are not flash and style. It simply will not work with D'Antoni as our coach. It will be a miracle if anyone else is considered for the job. Sadly I feel that Brett Browns lifeline was connected to Hinkie and he will be the next to go.
Josh is a flat out A hole! No other way to describe him, I first felt the fakeness of him when we had the Iverson ceremony a couple years back and he spoke to Iverson in front of the crowd. He clearly only cares about money and I get that, but he can still make his living while passionately caring for this franchise. Until we get an owner that actually cares about this team, we will continue to have things like this happen. We do this consistently though....we get rid of the positives and replace them with negatives. This is going to be a disaster, Colangelo is right on par with Billy King, so essentially we're back to him, just in a different form. They have the same type of thought process. I full out expect a trade to go down for Derrick Rose as our point guard, and an Al Horford max deal. It'll look great to the casual fan, but the results will be awful.

Just reading first couple pages on this thread

I feel so terrible for you guys. At least Hinkie had a vision, Colon Jello had no vision when he was with the Raptors. Giving up picks like candy to other teams and being a key contributor to building that Miami Heat dynasty

At least you'll get a weekly press conference from Bryan Colangelo on his excuses

Isn't Brett Brown a pretty good coach considering or is he not viewed very highly?

Now that I've had a chance to sleep on it....

....I'm even angrier.

This such a transparent attempt to make the team "competitive" next year in a rush to sell the team so Harris and his cronies can cash out of their, frankly, incredible investment. It was a great buy.

And Hinkie was a great hire.

And now it's time for the next phase - build a quick and easy 45 win team and cash out. It was a great deal for them, but it leaves us fans with nothing to show for it.

We had one of the great, forward-thinking, thoughtful basketball minds of the modern era running our team, and now we have basketball's version of the Bush presidencies.

**** this. ***** this again and again and again.

I don't even know what to do. I guess I hope Hinkie gets a job with the Knicks or Brooklyn (I live in BK), and then trades for Joel + Nerlens + Saric + Grant somehow.

I could see the Spurs hiring Sam as an assistant gm under Buford
