Since we don't have a 2022 Summer League talk: Never Too Soon thread...Royce Hamm Jr for the summer league team. I wanna get a closer look at this guy. 5th year senior, UNLV transfer from Texas. Second in the nation in defensive rebound percentage, 22 of 57 from 3. That's the type of player I'm interested in - glass monster who doesn't kill spacing and doesn't have cinderblocks for feet on defense.

Apparently he's been out with Pete Mickeal, who hosted what sounds like a combine for draft eligible players more likely to play overseas. First guy he mentioned in a hoopshype interview was Hamm Jr:

"Yeah. So, this year group, we have some really, really good names. A guy named Royce Hamm Jr.; he went to UNLV. I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people in the way he plays. He’s a four, five, but he can put it on the floor. He can shoot and he is really explosive"

I’d really like to see Gilyard on this team. Reminds me of Tyus. Really smart player. I’d use a 2nd on him.

He's just too short unfortunately. 5-9 in shoes with a 5-10 wingspan is a death sentence.

Eason I'd be surprised. I think that guy is destined to be playing key minutes in the playoffs for much of his career.

Not if he goes to the Kings or knicks :lol:

My draft rule is "pick the best available" and not the guy in the spot you need.

In my opinion, many teams in draft history have made huge mistakes because of this way of thinking..

Only good news if Eason is there, otherwise Williams got poached out of that group.

If we traded all four (4) of our picks, how far could we move up in your opinion?

Consensus mock drafts have him on the first round bubble. I'd say it's pretty likely.

He also comes across as one of most intelligent player's i've ever seen interviewed pre-draft. Would love to get him.

He's rising fast.

Really would depend, I'm doubtful a team is going to want to move back to 19 and pick up 3 2nd round picks. Value wise, I'd have to think that's in the back half of a lotto pick. 10-15 area for sure?

Agreed. This team isn't really settled at any one position. Grab the best player available and address fit needs with trades and free agency.

A question I've always asked myself about the draft is: in the days leading up to the draft or even during the year, what job leads a GM to decide who to choose and / or move forward or backward? Seeing a lot of videos or games ? Hear the opinion of talent scouts friends?

ESPN has Jabari Smith going #1. Jovic to the Wolves.

Pippen => MCD
Kukoc => Jovic

Let's make it happen!

I'm fine with Jovic as the pick, but if the draft shakes out this way, I try to move up a few spots if the Wolves fall in love with either Souchan or Eason

Wouldn't it drive you absolutely nuts if we stand pat and they go 17 and 18 like ESPN Mocks.

If it's enough to get us Williams or Duren, I'd be 100% supportive of the trade.

If Eason is there at the Houston pick I'd be offering them a lottery protected 1st for it, maybe some of the 2nds if they want. Not sure they want even more youth so they can punt the pick until next season.

But I'm SUPER high on Eason. Take him at 17 and probably Kennedy Chandler at 19, don't even care what happens in the 2nd at that point.

One interesting thing to note is we've interviewed both Chandler and Montero as well as had Davison in for a workout.

Maybe that's just due diligence but that's 3 smallish, quick, pass first PGs. That seems to be what they/Finch want out of the position, which flies in the face of how DLo operates.
