I can understand if there were concerns with his MCL injury but that ankle sprain could have happened to anyone, including Mikal and Cam Johnson.

Ah yes, because Mikal has such a long history of missing games to injury.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

What I’m saying is that injury could happen to anyone. It had nothing to do with his recent injuries. Just unfortunate. Relating the two doesn’t make sense imo. Now if he experienced a set back from his ACL or Achilles injuries, I can understand the frustration but a separate issue has nothing to do with Mikal.

Not that I expect medical expertise from a basketball player but hopefully Booker’s right this time unlike last time…

that was my first thought lol

Can't trust players nor Suns coaching nor front office when it comes to injury timelines.

They weren't winning a title with Mikal.

For the people wondering how we'd get to a 4-6 week timeline on a sprain, keep in mind that there will be massive caution over this.

Can likely double any normal time missed over this since they wont want to risk reaggravating.

You're right, it could have, as could his MCL, ACL or Achilles injuries. But they didn't.

Hopefully he's ok.

You don't know that nor do you know if we will with KD. Either were possible. It might be more probable with KD, or less probable if he can't stay healthy. We were the favorite the last two years and although we failed, Mikal has been rapidly improving, and we likely would have had him for his career. I think he will become an all star though I know most consider him a role player or strictly 3&D. Obviously players like KD are rare but he's also missed more games than he's played the last 4 years.

Damn, sucks for them. Of course, we've had it all year to just about all our key players. Everyone who's played key minutes missed some time.

Don’t think there is a huge risk there? For example, we bring him back in 4 weeks, a couple games before the season ends. If he injures it again, it’s just an ankle sprain and he has the entire offseason to recover.

Plenty of other injuries sure, big risk.

Only out 2-3 weeks thankfully. But still of course sucks with the schedule the Suns have coming up and still rotations/mins/chemistry needing to be figured out by playoffs start.

2-3 weeks with KD finishing his workout after the injury seems like a precautionary measure from the Suns. Wonder if he’d miss any time if it was a playoff game.

Everyone will have to step up in the next 2-3 weeks, especially Deandre Ayton. It’s time to earn that contact, big fella.

Bridges really did improve every season and you can see it in both his stats and from the eye test. I think people are quick to discount that Bridges probably made his biggest improvement this season out of all other seasons. Maybe it was the embarrassing gm 7 loss to the Mavs that prompted it (as they trapped Booker and nobody else could make them pay) but he really became an on the ball go-to scored this season and he showed us that even before the trade. Even Booker himself said Bridges isn’t at all just a 3 & D guy and he knows this from practicing against him every day.

Still do wonder if instead of trading for an oft injured superstar, how different it would’ve been to acquire instead say another ball handler like Beasley and a Draymond type PF in Vanderbilt instead. Probably would cost 1st rd pick in total or even less (2-3 second rd picks).

My fear is the ankle not being 100% for the rest of the year. At least the knee will be though.

Anyone notice how KD only wear low tops and is always dealing with ankle issues?

That might be the case if it was the playoffs and he was trying to play on it immediately.

This seems like excessive time to miss, likely because the Suns are trying to prevent it from being a lingering issue in the playoffs.

The Kuminga injury in warm up today was with him wearing low tops.

Yeah I wish more players would wear high tops…sure you can still sprain your ankle in those too but chances of doing it are less.
