After 37 tries on the lotto simulator, I STILL couldn't get AT LEAST ONE pick anywhere in the top 3!

Ha! I landed John Wall on the 42nd try.

Okay, you don't even get to watch TV on lotto day. Just take a walk or something. Don't even think about basketball...

No kidding. Maybe I should go out and buy a Cavs jersey and wear it that day. I figure that's the exact opposite of rooting for the Wizards.

Zactly.
And while we're talking about losses for the Cavs. There's a cluster of solid players who may fall to that 27-30 range. If the Cavs sputter a bit that pick becomes yet more juicy. While we're looking at those lotto picks, don't neglect to watch them late steals.

played the lottery 10 times --
7times got #8
once got #9
But twice got #1 and Wall! I'll take 2/10 at the lottery.

glad to see that heavyweight Sev is on the James Anderson bandwagon. it's probably a good thing this kid isn't getting press. stealing him with either the CLE pick or a 2nd rounder would be a real coup. I don't think he's significantly worse than Wesley Johnson as a sg/sf prospect.

I'm not even that concerned with #1, I just wanna fall in that top 3. If we finish with the 3rd worse record, anyone know what the odds would be of us staying in the top 3?

When you factor in that we're the Wizards, it skews the formula downward.

I landed the #1 pick on only my 4th try at the simulator (after two nines and an eight).
Also, I think I may have to hop aboard the "draft James Anderson with the CLE pick if we don't land Evan Turner" bandwagon.

I like James Anderson if we can nab him at #30. I'm a little turned off by his apparent weak ball handling skills, but I like that he could be a lock down defender according to most scouts.

We get the L with no Bosh and the Pistons, Warriors, Clippers, and Pacers all win... the Knicks almost won. there may still be hope!
If we can somehow finish 3rd worse I'll be happy. Even when someone leaps us in the lottery we can get a good player in Favors at #4. I think there may be 3 levels there, top 2 are studs, Cousins is 3rd because of his personality question marks, then Favors 4th with less skill/height than Cousins has.

Hey now, I've been watching my diet, and I'm gonna start exercising next week. Really. I mean it....
Yeah, I'm pretty high on Anderson. Not as much as Turner, obviously, but more than some other SGs who are higher rated (Xavier Henry, for example). Anderson is a clear #2 at SG, IMO. I actually first mentioned Anderson back in January 09 as a guy to watch for the future, and was very glad when he went back to OSU for his Junior year.
I just can't figure out why he's so low in many of the mock drafts. I mean, has has good size (6'6), a great shooting stroke with range, and appears to be a capable to very good defender. (Though some of the times I've watched OSU, they seemed to protect him by not assigning him to the opposing team's best perimeter player.) Yeah, he doesn't create off the dribble or get the assists that Turner does, but then if he did - he'd be a top 5 pick as well (since he's a better shooter than Turner).
I see in looking up his stats that nbadraft has moved him all the way up to 13, so maybe he's getting more attention.
Orakpo - yeah, I think he could be a lockdown defender, based on what I've seen and read about how he's coachable and willing to give his all as needed. If we could get a guy who will lock down on the best perimeter player and be money from the 3-point line, I'd be ecstatic.

Played golf with a good friend of mine from COlumbus today. He told me that people close to the Buckeye basketball program think there's a chance Turner stays in school -- again -- because Matta has a Fab Five type recruiting class coming in -- again -- and Turner would have a legit shot at a national title. He's "that type of kid." I have a hard time believing he could pass up being the #2 or #3 pick in the draft, but stranger things have happened.

That would pretty well, let's see, what's the word I'm looking for here? Uhmmm......
Suck. That would suck.

Can I change my offseason recommendation to the "Hoard cap space and suck as much as we can in 10-11" plan?
Actually, I also have a hard time believing he'd pass up the chance to be a top-3 pick, especially with that scary injury he had this year. If it was "He wants to be the first in his family to get a college degree" then maybe I could see it, but chasing an NCAA title while risking 8 figures seems unlikely.
Sounds like your friend (and his people in Columbus) have a serious case of wishful thinking going on...

I'm not sure there have been stranger things that have happened.

Wondering what you guys thought about Cole Aldrich? He looks pretty solid to me, but just based off youtube clips. Ive never seen the guy play in a an actual game, so I'd like to know what the draft gurus think.

I think Aldrich would be a solid pickup. I don't see him making an All-Star team in this league, but he will be a top-15 center.
However, I do think Artsiom Parakhouski later in the first round would be a better value. He has dominated his mid-major competition and has done a great job when he has played bigger schools. He has an NBA-ready body and, although he is a senior, he has played organized ball for only 6 years, which makes his performance all the more impressive. He's going to be a solid defensive presence too at this level and is already good 1-on-1. He struggles a bit with his help D though because he is not too quick laterally.
