Jonas Jerebko played well in his 27 minutes, but everyone else seemed to get hot which limited his minutes. He had a couple of really nice hustle plays (not like that’s unusual), just wished he was out there when Cleveland went on a few runs. Jonas finished with 10 points, 3 assists, 3 steals and 5 boards.

Nice work from Charlie Villanueva, who had some clutch three’s when the Pistons really needed them. Charlie played 21 and scored 16 points with 4 boards a steal and a blocked shot. Add that and a little paint presence and things would be all good.

Huge three from Austin Daye, who never seems to be afraid to take a big shot. He was a presence in his nine minutes on the court.

This game had 10 lead changes and 21 ties…that tells you something. The Cavs biggest lead 12, Detroit’s 6.

They let LeBron go off in the second half. He scored 29 total, 5 in the first half.

Rip Hamilton led Detroit with 24 points and his hot hand started early. He’s playing the way he is accustomed to, coming off the screens and knocking down shots.

Just frustrating to see the effort one night and the total non effort another night. Does this mean this team has underachieved because of heart? Not all season, but id has come into play.

Will Bynum finished with 12, with 4 assists 3 boards and just one turnover. He’s turned it up since he’s been put in the starting lineup and is really helping his free agent status. I sincerely hope Joe D shows him the money.

What Have You Done For Us Lately?: An Honest Assesment Of Joe Dumars
First off, I need to preface this article with a quick confession. I have been probably the most unabashed Joe Dumars apologist to ever claim the Detroit Pistons as his own. I love Dumars. My childhood was spent watching, adoring and admiring the Pistons great. While Isiah Thomas was always my favorite player, Dumars was easily the most respected player on the team. People could mock or criticize any of our players save for the diminutive guard from McNeese State. He was untouchable. The same could be said for his tenure as president of the Pistons. Through his bold and gutsy moves, he built one of the best teams of the millennium, if not all time.
Some of his moves included: fleecing the Orlando Magic in the sign and trade for Grant Hill, grabbing franchise cornerstone Ben Wallace and Chucky Atkins for a player that was going to leave anyways, signing Chauncey Billups for pennies on the dollar when many had written him off as a bust, and trading Jerry Stackhouse for Rip Hamilton despite the rumblings that it would backfire. However, the coup de grace was the move in which he stole Rasheed Wallace (with an assist from the Boston Celtics) for a draft pick and spare parts. This move (combined with bringing in coach Larry Brown) helped Detroit claim their first title of the new millennium. Again, he was untouchable. As a result, myself and others have continued to view Dumars through rose-colored glasses. He could do no wrong, right? He is Joe, and Joe knows best, right? Recently, I had the opportunity to have a discussion with one of this forums newest (and one of the more talented) writers about whether or not Dumars deserved to receive the type of unmitigated faith that we have thrown at him. He argued that since his decision to trade Chauncey Billups, Dumars has made some very curious moves to say the least. Basically, he called him out. Instinctively, I wanted to come to the aid of my hero. But as I began to honestly appraise the former All Star, I came to a stunning realization: Dumars' strange moves can actually be traced back a bit further.
The bottom line is this: the Detroit Pistons are currently for sale and a potential new owner has to view Dumars as less of an asset than a liability. For the first time in my life I believe the following: it is time for Joe Dumars to leave. A heartbreaking realization that sadly will probably not come to fruition. The fact of the matter is that Joe Dumars is no longer untouchable.

Five most-hated Boston Celtics
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day (and maybe Monday’s blowout loss), Graham and I compiled a list of our five most-hated Celtics of all-time. It just seemed like a perfect way to commemorate the day.Honorable mention: Glen Davis, Tiny Archibald (his wrongful inclusion on the NBA’s 50 Greatest list helped keep Joe Dumars off), Ricky Davis, Bill Walton, Gary Payton
5. Larry Bird
Get him!
He’d always start a bunch of conflict, then step out of the way. At least the Pistons’ star, Isiah Thomas, would handle his own business sometimes instead of deferring to Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn. But, honestly, I hate how good he was. His steal and pass to Dennis Johnson still gives me nightmares. And I didn’t see it until it hit ESPN Classic.
4. Kevin McHale
Sexy.
McHale was just as dirty as the Bad Boys. But his reputation was a lot more pristine. He was Detroit’s Rick Mahorn – but with more talent, and that just made him more infuriating. His reputation in Detroit shot up when he told Bill Laimbeer to beat the Lakers after the Pistons beat the Celtics in 1988. Otherwise, he’d be a lot higher on this list.
3. Danny Ainge
Me too. This about sums it up. From a 1987 Boston Globe article: Danny Ainge was the first of the Boston Celtics players to start dancing. There were 4 seconds left on the digital clock atop the blast-furnace old arena and he came close to Dennis Rodman of the Detroit Pistons and he started . . . started . . . what? He did not seem to know the exact steps to do. "Is this how you do it?" he seemed to ask the Pistons’ rookie as the time ran down on the Celtics’ 117-114 win in this final, ferocious seventh game at the Garden to capture the NBA Eastern championship and send the world champions into the finals this week against the Los Angeles Lakers. "One finger in the air. Isn’t that it? Right index finger. How about the feet? Is this the right way to do the feet?" Danny Ainge danced and then Dennis Johnson danced and Kevin McHale danced and half the people in the packed, hot building danced. No one really knew how to dance the way Dennis Rodman had danced in those three Pistons wins in Pontiac, Mich., but somehow that did not matter. The dancers all looked out-of-step, out-of-synch lovely. "That dance was something I planned to do from the beginning of this series," Danny Ainge said. "That was the Dennis Rodman dance. It was geared right for him."
2. Robert Parish
He played four more seasons after Sports Illustrated called him “old.” Just retire already. This is exactly why I hate him. Every time I see this play, I get enraged. He didn’t even get called for a technical foul. Worse, it wasn’t a personal foul, either. (The NBA hated Bill Laimbeer.) We really wanted to use this picture, but the watermark prevented us. Just check it out. It’s worth it.
1. Antoine Walker
Nom nom nom nom nom
The reason he’s so high is probably a generational difference, but I just can’t stand the sight of his face. One of my favorite moments at The Palace came I believe during the 2002 playoffs. The scene on a scoreboard video: a fat guy in a Pistons shirt was eating a giant pizza in what happened to be the Celtics locker room. He got sauce all over himself and needed something to wipe it. Well, right next to him happened to be an Antoine Walker jersey. He grabbed it and sauced it up. The Palace crowd cracked up. The best part: the entire Celtics bench was watching and losing it, too. Everyone hated that guy.

Pistons take Cavs to the wire, refs no help
[Cle 113 Det 101] At this point your guess is as good as mine. The Pistons got embarrassed by a struggling Celtics team in Boston, then turn around, fly home, and nearly pull one out against the team with the league’s number one seed. The final score sees the Cavs winning by a dozen points, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The Pistons played Clelveland tight the whole game. The game was tied 21 times and there were 10 lead changes. The Pistons had LeBron James managed through the first half of basketball only giving up 5 points to soon-to-be #6, but he got loose in the second. He ended the night with a 29/12/12 triple-double. A couple of those points he didn’t earn though. LeBron got a continuation call on a layup after being fouled by Tayshuan Prince just inside the 3-point line. I don’t even think he was expecting to get that call by the cute little layup he flipped up.
LeBron also “officially” recorded a block, but I’m nullifying that myself. It was a goaltend. So Will Bynum actually had 14 points to go with his 4 assists and 3 rebounds. Check out the video. I think the refs were just to caught up in the King’s glory. Mad respect to Tayshaun Prince last night. After taking a Jason Maxiell running knee to the back in Boston Tay played 44 big minutes giving the Pistons a much needed 15 points, 8 assists, and 7 boards.Including Tayshaun and Bynum, the Pistons had six players in double figures. Rip led the way with 24. Jonas and Max scored 10 a piece with Jason grabbing a game high 15 rebounds. Charlie Villanueva gave the Pistons 16 off the bench making all three of his triple attempts.
GAME NOTES: Refs = all the King’s men … Wilcox / Atkins / Summers -DNP CD … The 3-point shooting of Mo Williams (20 pts) and Daniel Gibson really hurt the Pistons late in the game … Ben Gordon 1-6 shooting … Stuckey practicing hard, closing in on return date …
