Excellent should only be used to describe Thomas off the field.

Ha. Bad snap and Dickson shanks it - 10-yard punt.
Still averaging 51.7 for the season WITH the shank.

Re: 49ers regular season game notes
49ers didn't have a 5th rounder to offer for Gordon. So it would have been a 4th rounder.
Pats were going to trade a 6th rounder but they didn't have one for the next draft so they gave up a 5th rounder.
4th rounder is a high price but it's not a guaranteed starter. If Gordon plays well for the Pats, doesn't get into more trouble, of course the 4th rounder might be worth it.
Oh well, we'll never know, because looks like they're conservative with player personnel acquisitions. At least they've been thus far.
Kyle and Lynch may be similar to Baalke in that respect.

Re: 49ers regular season game notes
49ers left Najee Toran off this week's depth chart. When they put Coyle on IR, they elevated Toran from the PS and then signed Frank Stephens to the PS.
He could be the one that's being released to make room for the return of Foster. I hope he is. I wouldn't even have him on my PS if it were me.

Thomas has so much speed as a pass rusher, he even gets past the line before the snap.

Re: 49ers regular season game notes
Interesting/powerful piece written by Thomas for ESPN the Magazine. I'd forgotten he's been dealing with the suicide of his sister this offseason. That could account for some of his struggles this year. That, and his best fit is probably a position where we have a DPOY candidate.

I noticed Solomon Thomas was often double teamed last week

Was wrong. They're expected to cutt Matt Tobin to create a spot. At the risk of sounding harsh, Tobin also needed to be let go as well. I know there's the numbers game at work but in a straight up scenario I'd have moved on from Toran first then Tobin but I'll take it.
Good luck to him in whatever he decides to go. I don't think NFL football is for him. Maybe he finds a better fit at the back end of someone's roster but we'll see. Seemed like a good kid, though. Didn't play football until 2010, former walk on and former construction worker to help pay for school since he didn't get a scholarship. Wants to have a farm someday.

Maybe the silver lining is that we won't be able to pressure him, anyway. How's KC's interior OL? Unless Buckner has another game like he did in Minnesota, Mahomes is going to go off again.

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and Cam Erving haven't graded very well this year FWIW. In the 40s on PFF and a hair higher on some other sites.
They also posted this, this week, on their OL as a whole. Ranked the Chiefs OL 7th through 2 weeks. 49ers, surprisingly, are ranked 6th. Remember not to look TOO hard into their rankings, though. Especially since there's only 2 weeks to go off of.
Starting Lineup:
Left Tackle: Eric Fisher, 66.8
Left Guard: Cam Erving, 60.3
Center: Mitch Morse, 69.8
Right Guard: Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, 73.5
Right Tackle: Mitchell Schwartz, 75.4
There isn’t a unit on the Chiefs’ offense that’s not currently getting the job done at a high level. That should come as no surprise for a team that’s put up 80 points in two weeks. One of the biggest reasons for their success up front has been their consistent tackle play. Kansas City bookends Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz have combined to give up all of six pressures through Week 2.
