All of those teams outside of Sac have established superstars and are legitimate contenders though and needed to retain those players at that price tag to remain contenders. We were a borderline playoff team last year and can't make the same justification for paying a player like that as a Milwaukee or Philly can.
Basically, my point is if we had a Giannis on this team and needed to give Vuc this contract to keep him I would feel completely different about it. Its the fact that we don't though that makes me not like it. I'd rather try to get a player of that caliber in the lottery than cap ourselves out with longterm contracts and not even be a top 6 team in the leastern conference.
You think the 76ers are a championship contender?

What i find most idiotic? People keep saying Vuc disappears in the playoffs....Hes made the Playoffs once, I could understand of it were perpetual, but weve made it once and it was because of Nik, he had a bad series against a guy hes historically struggled against who's now on a good defensive team that just won the title.

I would wager on vuch in his second playoff stint, no lead player dominants in their first playoff experience, especially with a better team around him. Signing off, good Sunday for the magic

Definitely an ECF’s contender. Guaranteed top 4 team in the East. That’s a contender in my eyes, not sure if they will actually win it but I’d put them in the mix. I like the Horford addition. If they add Danny Green I will really like their chances.

Philly can’t shoot. They’re going nowhere. Boston, Indiana, and Milwaukee are all ahead of them for sure.

I’m not a Vucevic Guy, but what would you suggest they do with this money instead? Who was out there that was attainable for Orlando? Mediocrity was going to happen regardless. We are just paying more for it.

Non-star? Funny, thought I saw Vuc at the All-STAR game. Maybe I made that up. Also led his team to their first playoff series in almost a decade. Has improved and became a 20-12 guy. But sure, Vuc isn't a star.
You know the bias/hate is real when people are clamoring for a mediocre player in Lopez over Vuc. Put Vuc on the Bucks and they win the championship. Give us Giannis and Vuc excels in the Lopez role better than Lopez does.
Name any playoff team. Vuc isn’t the primary option on any of them. Case closed.
In Orlando he’s settled in to be whatever he wants. There is no clear second option on this roster. That’s a small market settling for lack of options. Tell yourself whatever you want to justify this contract.
Your last paragraph is what justifies the contract. They don’t have any other options. What else are they gonna do with the money? Nothing. There is no better player for the franchise at this time, or in the foreseeable future. The other option was to blow the roster up and win 20 games.

Boston? They don't have a single big man. Pacers' moves were neutral. Top in east: Philli, Milwaukee, Brooklyn, Indiana, Orlando, and Toronto (if the keep leonard) in any order, is pretty equal.

2nd round? sure...ECF I'm not sure about that...maybe.
They lost Butler, he kept them afloat in playoffs on both ends + also lost a crucial spacer and shot maker in JJ. They'll now have to play two C lineups with a non shooting PG (sound familiar?). Both Horford/Embiid can hit 3's ok, but that looks like a much less athletic team now. We'll see how it plays out...but I'm not feeling contender from them...maybe Horford's high bbIQ makes it work.

Mediocrity doesn't happen regardless. It takes us all 3 minutes to look at the roster and realize we don't have a star player to build around. So you either clear contracts and try to sign one (be that this year or pick a year, clear for that year, and make a run at 2-3 players) or you tank and draft them. Signing Vuc does neither of those things, but puts in in a place where we guaranteed not winning a championship for 4-10 years unless God comes down and makes our young players all become superstars.

The issue is even if we let Vuc walk we are too good to get a top pick. We'd have to let Vuc walk then trade multiple players like AG to get down to the bottom level and start trying to tank all over again. We didn't even go full tank mode last time we rebuilt. Everyone would love this team to have a star player but please be realistic instead of just being pissy.

We aren’t signing stars in free agency. That’s a pipe dream everyone needs let go of.
We are going to be in mediocrity for many years with or without Vooch. We aren’t in position to tank with or without him, as we are probably a 35 win team even without him. We’d need to have a fire sale with the current roster to properly tank, and despite you being a wonderful armchair GM, trading 5-6 pieces off your roster in one offseason while getting the value you want isn’t that easy.
We are what we are right now.

We have basically been doing that since 6 years but to no avail.
And for the former of of making a run for 2-3 stars, no star player will sign with us if we continue to put up the same **** show every year, like the Knicks.
See what happened with the Nets they turned the culture around, developed guys instead of tanking. See what they have now. Heck even the Raptors kept trying and trying until they won. And they were the epitome of a treadmill team that everyone thought should re-build.
The Sixers are a good example of a re-building team, they tanked and drafted well, but putting up the same **** show every year for like 4 years prior didnt really attract them any marquee free agents. Their biggest FA signing after the process was Redick. Despite having a lot of cap space, they even had to overpay him 20million for one year for him to sign with them. After Embiid and Simmons, they basically traded for their super team last year in Jimmy and Tobias. Today they signed Horford, after making the ECF.
Winning cures all, and that what we`re trying to do. Vucevic re-signing wont automatically mean we`ll be contenders either, thats why we re-signed guys like Ross and even signed Aminu. These are upgrades being done to help make this team an attractive free agent destination again.

Historically Orlando management never discloses contract details. We will need to wait for Vučević's agent / the League to leak the details;s. So yes we probably need to wait until after 6PM this Saturday.

This intrigues me greatly. The versatility on this team is on a level that we've never had before, but what makes it work is having a coaching staff with creativity and balls to try to take advantage of every kind of situation. This is why Okeke playing some SG is not out of the question, imo.
