As long as Jenkins doesn't ole' block I still think Fields would be the best choice.

C'mon. This is Dalton he would be playing behind.

Again, have to see how they are both playing in training camp and how Fields understanding of the offense is. But I don't see any point running Dalton out unless Fields just isn't grasping things out of the gate. If Dalton starts for any other reason then it is not a good sign.

If Fields is the best QB come W1 then he needs to start, plain and simple. If he needs a little time and the Bears want to ease him in, I am also good with that.

According to analyst Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network

"I stated all along Lance was the best fit for the Shanahan offense," Pauline added. "He processes information quicker than Fields,

This seems to be the culprit for Field's drop. I also saw a chart that showed he struggled Vs pressure across the board stats relative to other guys. Holds the ball too long etc. This doesn’t make him Trubisky, he’ll be making many more positive plays with his accuracy and instincts, and as such was always going in the first round just as a grade. This is the relative to the other 4 guys rap on him.

Not hard to look like you're processing information faster when you're playing against trash competition.

Lastly, I wouldn't put Shanahan QB eval on a pedestal. This is the same cocky person who doesn't think much of Mahomes.

(Taking out the name, Im not sure.) But a draft evaluation from an ex player that does that stuff mentioned on the Score that his own evaluation was that he wanted Fields to progress through his reads quicker. How much there is to this we shall see. I’m having a hard time believing his fall with NFL teams was related to race. This has to be the what it was. Whether or not it’s actually true.

His adjusted accuracy % when pressured was above everybody in the 1st round except for Mac. 75% of his games were against top flight defenses. He held onto the ball longer than others because he wasn't throwing to his RB left and right, they were going through their progressions and he was taking shots downfield.

If you're going to mention a chart, feel free to post it so we can look at it.

Well you can explain adjusted accuracy for me, I don’t know what it is. No need to be defensive, Im not lying. There was a chart display on a draft show that showed he was elite or the best in every passing and production category. Then he had low numbers relative to the others on pressured plays, which was the only knock on his production.

He got nitpicked. For whatever reason that happened to him but not Lawrence. He got a pass for playing terrible in the National Title game against LSU and against Ohio st was down 35-14 at one point. Fields gets dinged for the Indiana and Northwestern game. But Fields is a generational talent and Bears get to benefit for other teams being stupid.

Adjusted accuracy credits passers for wide receiver drops, but also factors out those passes that were batted at the line of scrimmage, thrown away, spiked, and even those that resulted from the quarterback being hit in their throwing motion.

Hey, I hope so. Sheets like this one contradict the propaganda thats been out there on Fields with respect to this. Which is interesting why NFL teams wouldn’t be privy to it. Hell, maybe they were privy to it, and Fields is almost the perfect prospect, and we are still looking at what the nitpick could possibly be that knocks a guy like him down to the 11th pick. I need to know. I see reporting that half of teams had him as the best QB, and he goes 11 wtf.

Jags - TL has been anointed as the GOAT since he was in grade school, no issues here
Jets - Dude looks like a ken doll, his off script stuff is really good which got them thinking he's the next Mahomes (but without Kelce/Hill it's going to be ugly)
Niners - He's big as hell and can throw the hell outta the ball, good luck
Falcons - Pitts + Ryan makes more sense than Fields, Pitts was too rare
Cincy - Joey B is there
Miami - Rolling with Tua
Detroit - Rolling with Goff
Carolina - Rolling with Darnold
Broncos - Probably waiting on ARod
Eagles - Rolling with Hurts

Teams roll with bad QBs all the time. They're dumb. Cincy wanted to give Andy Dalton weapons and passed on Mahomes/Watson for John Ross who's done nothing in the NFL. Kyle Shanny lusted after Kirk Cousins which made them not take Mahomes/Watson.

The Bears picked up a $100 bill of off the ground, there's no need to spend all your life wondering if it's counterfeit. It happens sometimes (Lamar at 32, Watson at 12, Wilson at 75, Rodgers at 25), just enjoy it and hope he stays healthy.

There truly aren’t many major concerns about Justin Fields. The one that keeps coming up is internal clock and pocket presence when under pressure. This has been overstated in my opinion. While it is a con for him, it is not extremely concerning. Fields struggled occasionally when going through his reads against pressure and he took a few bad sacks because of it. However, it is not something overly concerning as he had an elite 69% completion percentage when under pressure and he rarely forced throws. A good coaching staff should be easily able to clean up any processing issues that Fields has under pressure..

The adjusted accuracy is something to chew on, I found this to read more on later.

https://www.nbcsports.com/edge/article/qb-klassroom/quantifying-quarterbacks-justin-fields

ACCURACY AND ENVIRONMENT

Adjusted Accuracy: 83.18%

Outside the Pocket Percentage: 22.62%

Adjusted Accuracy Outside the Pocket: 71.45%

Under Pressure Percentage: 21.73%

Adjusted Accuracy Under Pressure: 66.44%

Most Common Personnel Package: 11 personnel (49.40%)

Shotgun Percentage: 94.64%

Empty Formations Frequency: 9.23%

Play-Action / RPO Percentage: 34.52%

Play-Action Adjusted Accuracy: 83.71%

Designed Rollout Frequency: 13.69%

Let’s get right to it: Fields’ 83.18% adjusted accuracy is the best I have ever recorded since I started with the 2016 class. That’s only about six years of data, but it’s still an impressive feat given some of the QBs to come out during that period. For reference, Joe Burrow (78.43%), Dwayne Haskins (77.17%), Baker Mayfield (76.53%), and Kyler Murray (74.68%) made up the top four previously. Fields beating out three first-overall picks and another first-round pick ain’t too shabby

I’ll make this bold statement. Justin Fields is going to win offensive rookie of the year and literally cement Nagy and Pace with the Bears organization for the next decade. Meanwhile, the GMs and coaches that pass on Justin Fields will be on the hot seat fairly soon. It will never be said but those organizations will clean out at least half of the closet racists in the NFL.

Detroit is doing it, Philly is doing it.

Cincy was rolling with Dalton when they drafted John Ross. Three years later they cut Dalton after getting the 1st pick. Could have drafted Mahomes/Watson but didn't even consider it because they were that comfortable with him. In fact, they were so comfortable with him, they decided to try and get him more help!

They didn't even look into those QBs they were so into Dalton.

There should be a written rule. If your team sucks enough to have a top 10 draft pick and your current QB isn’t a top 5-7 QB and beyond his rookie contract, you need a QB upgrade.

Two people talked bad about Fields: Dan Orlovsky and Chris Simms

JT OSullivan made a hilarious youtube video on them on Arpil Fools

I started it at the Fields stuff.
